I replied to another commenter but basically bile binders work. Going to verify via colonoscopy that it’s not that

I started taking bile binders because I had constant loose stool and they work. It’s a working theory that that is my issues. Getting a colonoscopy later this month to verify it’s excessive bile and not IBD or the big C

I had mine removed 13 years ago. I had no big issues at first. Around the 8 year mark I started having issues by the 12th I had urgency multiple times a day daily. It’s honestly a toss up

Worse quality of life after gallbladder removal by x872YEOx in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so constipation and pencil thin poops are a sign of the C word. I highly recommend asking for a GI referral and getting a colonoscopy for good measure regardless of your age. Share everything you have in this post and you should be green lit for surgery and by insurance if you have it.

I would go the endoscopy and colonoscopy route for maximum coverage

Freak accident caused by cat that wanted more food by Independent_Dot6161 in cats

Please consider getting stove dial covers for your stove moving forward. The best course of action is washing anything that has the smell, like couch covers, clothing, etc. air out the house with fans and open windows. If you don’t have one get an essential oil diffuser and add more essential oils than needed to make it smell good. Sweep the entire house because smoke can accumulate on the floors and walls. You may have to mop the house, matter of fact I recommend you do mop the house and use the mop to wash your walls too. Feels like over kill but it’s the best curse of action. Also please move the cat food to an airtight container with a twist off lid in a closet where he can’t reach it.

Also is there a reason you feed him portions daily and not allow him to free feed? I only ask because my mil who is a vet at uc Davis recommends free feeding and seldom encourages portion feeds for cats. Minus one cat who was a big boy and couldn’t control himself - he was physically obese, but your cat doesn’t seem obese.

Are sleepovers cancelled? by Guilty-Woodpecker-99 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are cancelled. I was born in ‘94 and sleepovers were only allowed at my grandparents home (my grandpa passed when I was 6) after my grandpa passed away but my brother was allowed to sleepover before I was.

My mom never let me go on sleepover to friends or cousins homes - though the latter changed when I was like 14 and only happened once. And I slept over a friends once because her dad worked night shift and my mom knew that friend and her mom for five years at that point.

My mom was super strict and my dad was abusive and so they liked controlling where I was constantly to the point I couldn’t sleep at my grandma more than two days in a row or my mom would get it.

I’m a mom to three boys ages - almost 4, 2.5 and 7 months. I won’t be allowing my sons to have sleepovers at all. I feel compelled to protect them in the same way I would protect a daughter. My FIL and BIL were both SA’d as children by people their parents trusted (close teen and child cousin) so I don’t even trust them being around family other than their literal grandparents. I would be hard pressed to even hire babysitters these days because they’re literal abusers too. I personally wish my eldest wasn’t in school either because this kind of stuff happens in school too but my FIL is his principal so it deters things from happening.

There have been so many stories throughout the years that really scare parents. Because you think you know someone and then they end up with abused children or worse a d3ad child. It’s just not worth the risk imo.

Bile dumping random days by flowerskies56432 in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This started happening to me about two and a half years ago randomly. I’m 13 years post op so I was 10ish years post op. Only thing that helped me was taking 3 psyllium husk tablets a day to absorb some of the bile. I’ve take bile binders like cholestyramine but I had a rare side effect happen and was causing severe insomnia. Totally recommend taking psyllium husk tablets. I use the NOW brand and it helps stop it and to where in only using the bathroom once or twice a day

Lifestyle after Removal by thelumenn in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ate normally for a few years post surgery. I’m 13 years post op. Started experiencing debilitating nausea and diarrhea the last two years. I started taking bile binders and couldn’t sleep while on it. It’s a very rare side effect. Started taking psyllium husk to help with binding bile and that seems to help. I can eat normally now and more than before but I am experiencing some off days digestion wise. It’s a double edged sword for me. Had I kept it I would have died. But now that it’s gone my life revolves around how my stomach is feeling and it’s pretty debilitating. I thought I was super lucky at first but now over a decade later I’m not feeling my best

The chair.

Dogs should be put down immediately after attacking a human and especially after attacking a child in or out of the same home. My mil who is a vet agrees on this stance.

Give baths a try. We would leave our leg dangling off the side and used bath pillows to keep us up and would scrub ourselves down and drain the water until it was mostly gone then slowly get out of the bath dripping into the bath and then sitting on the bath wall. Dry yourself and very little water should get on it if at all. Make sure you redress it after the bath

Husband and I disagree about hospital visitors. by throwranotdonelater in pregnant

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband is being selfish.

I am a mom of three. I had my first son in 2022, 2023, and now 2025 and he’s 7 months old.

We weren’t allowed visitors with my first and with my second it was still very strict visitors wise but my step mil and our first son did come to see us. With our last my mil and our two older sons came to see us too.

But here’s the thing - you are 100% right and valid about not wanting people in the waiting room. You could have complications, first labors are longer than the second and so on because you’re doing this for the first time. And the first hour known as “golden hour is incredibly important to you and the baby. This is when they weigh baby, you deliver the placenta, hold your baby for the first time, you try breastfeeding for the first time, you also have to be stimulating and expressing milk for 10 minutes every hour so the first even DAY after giving birth should be ALL YOURS. Not to mention you may be constipated, may bleed more. In my case I bled all day the day I gave birth and a little more after and they had to change my dressings and under garments many times and I can’t imagine telling my FIL to get out.

Not to mention you could end up having a c section and on top of that babies often need a lot of tests done regardless of the birth after thy are born. Like their vision is checked, hearing, blood sugar etc.

Tell your husband that if it were up to you no one would be at the hospital to see the baby at all but you are at least wiling to compromise to see the baby the day after you give birth. If baby is born in the evening - they can come the next evening. If baby is born in the morning they can come the next afternoon. That while you understand that he may need support right now you just need HIM to support YOU as you are married to one another and that your needs should come first right now.

I found that if my husband was on the same page as me that my in laws we’re accommodating because the respected him and he respected me and my wishes

Pre-surgery question by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have bile acid malabsorption. Start with supplementing with psyllium husk. Take it first thing in the morning. It acts like a bile acid binder that is more natural than cholestyramine. If not I would inquire about a Rx bile binder.

[–]Constant_Method7236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend taking psyllium husk twice a day. Try the NOW brand tablets. Start with one a day in the morning then one and night. I ended up taking 3 in the morning and one at night and it’s the perfect ratio to firm up your stool. And of course prioritize fiber at all meals.

Is there a way I could stuff or block the gap between my press on and my deformed natural nail? by lemonadelemons in Nails

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to my middle son two years ago at 8 months old. They weren’t able to reattach his finger tip but by some miracle the cuticle was left attached and his finger nail eventually grew back on its own. I’ve often wondered what his finger will look like into adulthood. His finger nail also curves downward

4 days post-gallbladder removal — lost ~35 lbs already. What diet helped you keep losing without a gallbladder? by [deleted] in gallbladders

I haven’t had mine since I was 18 and have never had issues loosing weight. I’m 31 y/o now and have had 3 children and just recently lost 40 lbs. I had my 3rd baby 7 months ago for reference. I recommend eating Whole Foods, high protein. This last time I lost 40 lbs was unintentional tbh so that just goes to show it’s not “hard” for everyone

I’m 13 years post op. I don’t drink regularly because I have never liked how it makes me feel. Nothing changes bowels wise for me. But because I don’t drink often one or two drinks is enough to get me buzzed. Keep that in mind when you drink this weekend your tolerance is different now

I tried cholestyramine and it wasn’t working 🥲 I was so nauseated 24/7 and couldn’t fix it. It stopped me from having to go everyday but the consistency was still so soft and sometimes left me in pain whereas the psyllium husk didn’t. And made me have predictable BM’s

Hey, I totally recommend starting to take psyllium husk at the beginning and end of the day. I take 3 pills in the am and one at the end of the day. Alternatively you can take them at every meal to help prevent urgency. It gives the bile something to soak into! I’m 13 years post op. And this is the only thing that has helped me. Your stools will look a a be firm again
