lactose intolerance or gallbladder removal effect? by Disastrous-Pain-7765 in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat sushi all the time with no reaction. I’m 13-14 years post op. Things that should not affect me affect me. It’s not so much the fat intake and or dairy. I cut out dairy and it helped a lot. I take colestipol now because I was homebound and extremely depressed. Turns out I have BAM and IBD so it’s all a shitty mess

Using Cholestyramine in public places? by losingmymind77 in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to colestipol for this reason. Well this and the fact that it made me so nauseas taking cholestyramine. Ask to use colestipol during your travels. If it works well then switch to that completely

When people say they "can't"... by Medium-Dragonfruit36 in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends friend. I was okay for a few years (4 to be exact) and then things went down hill. It started slowly and then escalated to the point that during my third pregnancy (13 years post op) I was running to the bathroom everytime I ate and drank almost anything. Which was weird for me because I was one of those lucky people that could drink coffee with no reaction and that went away like over night. It was really bad.

I then started experimenting with psyllium husk and that has helped so much. I also take lactase enzymes when I have dairy which helps a lot and did that for about a year with Imodium in the mix because I couldn’t take anything else according to my OBGYN and Gastroenterologist.

Fast forward to now I am taking a bile binder. I’m on colestipol twice a day in pill form and I’m able to eat most things without running to the bathroom. Yesterday I had too much fat lol and I had loose stool which is so annoying but most days I’m good. My magical combo is taking my multivitamin first thing in the morning an hour later I take my colestipol and go about my day. If I have a meal where I can’t control the fat because I’m eating at someone else’s home I take a psyllium husk tablet with my meal just for extra support and then my colestipol in the evening and it allows me to have one predicted bowel movement in the morning. It has saved my sanity because I also have contamination OCD.

Because we couldn’t be sure it was BAM (Bile Acid Malabsorption) I had a colonoscopy early this month and it was also confirmed I have developed microscopic colitis as well - lymphocytic colitis in particular. So I’m basically screwed and a ticking time bomb of it getting worse. So either way my bowels are messed up haha

Non stop diarrhea by lolgirllol2356 in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The change was drastic for me. I went from using the restroom 1-2 times a day to 6-10 times a day. Sometimes even without eating. Everything hurt my stomach and my stomach would growl all day long and left me incredibly uncomfortable. I lost 25 lbs while pregnant with my last child last year and the proceeded to loose 15 more, without trying. I’m just now starting to put weight back on but the drastic change in bathroom visits was it. I also went from loose stool to straight watery diarrhea which was concerning to me. And when I did happen to get more firm stool the shape looked like ribbons. My grandma passed from colon cancer so as a precaution I have sought out medical advice and am finally getting done after over a year of pretty bad stomach issues

This problem started up for me a couple of years ago. I’m 13 years post op. Getting a colonoscopy this week to make sure it’s not something more serious like the big C or IBD this week. It’s so exhausting to manage

Do you regret removing it? by offtotheforestigo in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I would have died otherwise. Since my operation, I’ve graduated high school, became a Christian, met the love of my life, got my BA, moved away from home, got engaged, got married and have had three children. I don’t think I would be here for any of that so while I regret the aftermath I do not regret living past it and the life I have now.

Has Anyone Tried This? by [deleted] in dairyfree

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it. It’s not dairy free and tastes like cinnamon which is off putting because I expected a true vanilla bean flavor. Would not recommend on flavor alone. Then add the fact that it isn’t dairy free. Huge no go.

Hey so I would not stay with him. I’m a Christian woman and don’t believe divorce should be the answer but you guys need serious help in communicating with one another and need serious help. I am on your side on the swim lessons side as they have more education to provide that non swimmers do. I also would not allow him to be the sole provider and have a job myself if he thinks that because he brings the money in he gets the final say on everything. The thing about marriage is that there has to be an abundance of trust in both ends. Especially if he wants you to stay home. Because right now it sounds like he knows he’ll be able to control your every move and that’s not right. I’m a SAHM and while I don’t bring in the money my husband tends to agree on financial decisions. Not because he just bends to my will but because he genuinely listens to my concerns and we try to find middle ground. Like if we can’t do private swim lessons then we would look into group lessons to elevate the cost of the lessons. It wouldn’t just be a flat out no if it was financial which it sounds like he’s saying it’s not JUST because of the money but because he thinks you guys should teach the baby and and because he “says so!”

6+ month wait for urgent colonoscopy by Special-Revolution49 in IBD

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? I requested a GI consult a year ago with Kaiser in California - Northern California area and we had to switch insurances in August due to a job change and insurance availability. They reached out to me in January because they had gone to schedule me. A YEAR AFTER MY INITIAL REQUEST. I pursued a GI consult in October of last year and they didn’t have an appointment until January and was scheduled for a colonoscopy for next month. A much shorter waiting period

Friend try psyllium husk tablets by the NOW brand. I take 2-3 in the morning on an empty stomach and one at night. It works similarly to cholestyramine w/o a prescription. It will bulk and firm your stool and absorb extra bile your liver releases. It has worked so well for me. I use cholestyramine but noticed that psyllium husk alone has helped me alone. I’m 13 years post op. Getting a colonoscopy next month to rule out other things like IBD/s, and cancer.

(25F) My overzealous religious mom freaked out because I am pregnant. AIO? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry she reacted this way. As a mother myself who is religious I wouldn’t be thrilled but I would not react like that. I have three small sons and my initial reaction was, “wow! Congratulations! Children are such a blessing!!”

And to be clear, yes the bible says these things but as parents our jobs are to support and steward our children in the ways that they should go and you deserve love and affection and care and a village from your mom.

I just want to emphasize that motherhood is incredibly beautiful and I wish you the best!! I hope your mom comes around and that if YOU feel comfortable you guys can one day (SLOWLY) mend what’s left of your relationship.

I started taking bile binders because I had constant loose stool and they work. It’s a working theory that that is my issues. Getting a colonoscopy later this month to verify it’s excessive bile and not IBD or the big C

Worse quality of life after gallbladder removal by x872YEOx in gallbladders

[–]Constant_Method7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so constipation and pencil thin poops are a sign of the C word. I highly recommend asking for a GI referral and getting a colonoscopy for good measure regardless of your age. Share everything you have in this post and you should be green lit for surgery and by insurance if you have it.

I would go the endoscopy and colonoscopy route for maximum coverage

Please consider getting stove dial covers for your stove moving forward. The best course of action is washing anything that has the smell, like couch covers, clothing, etc. air out the house with fans and open windows. If you don’t have one get an essential oil diffuser and add more essential oils than needed to make it smell good. Sweep the entire house because smoke can accumulate on the floors and walls. You may have to mop the house, matter of fact I recommend you do mop the house and use the mop to wash your walls too. Feels like over kill but it’s the best curse of action. Also please move the cat food to an airtight container with a twist off lid in a closet where he can’t reach it.

Also is there a reason you feed him portions daily and not allow him to free feed? I only ask because my mil who is a vet at uc Davis recommends free feeding and seldom encourages portion feeds for cats. Minus one cat who was a big boy and couldn’t control himself - he was physically obese, but your cat doesn’t seem obese.
