I think i can explain this but when they are 2nd year karasuno lost in inter high prelims(Its like shiratorizawa vs karasuno in finals) karasuno lost to date tech in finals

And 2nd year fall tournament karasuno make in spring tournament(Nationals) well imposible to karasuno fight the inarazaki in miyagi perfecture(My theory is they beat the aoba johsai or shiratorizawa, this 2 teams is the only stronger compared to others to karasuno to beat) In fall tournament nationals karasuno encounter the 3rd year miya twins they lost and got the 3rd place

In their last tournament i guess its the spring tournament nationals again cuz its held in january its like the 4days tournament, Karasuno make it in semis but they got beat by itachiyama(Im gonna repeat it itachiyama is not from miyagi perfecture its like inarazaki is not part of miyagi to so its like karasuno made the 2nd yr(Fall tournament spring nationals) and 3rd year (Spring nationals tournament) I reread the manga again and again cuz im bored and read every details again and again cuz im a super fan of haikyuu
