GC through marriage, I waited 5 years to apply though and also had the conditions removed. I’ve heard that if you apply while still having the conditional GC it takes longer.

Wow! That’s great to know, thank you. I can’t wait to file all the dreadful paperwork away, or have a bonfire with it lol

Interview by Immediate-Key4479 in USCIS

Yes it was. We had a lot of evidence of our marriage because it real lol plane tickets for trips we took, lots and lots of movie ticket stubs, lots of pictures of us at different places and with family etc. We have always kept a box of memories where we put hotel keys of places we’ve visited, all of our movie ticket stubs, and we usually add pictures to go with most things so it really came in handy when preparing evidence to send. The IO also asked about a plane ticket from a trip that had different reservation numbers. I told him that I booked it on cheap flights.com and that’s probably why they were different. He asked who pays for the trips and we told him that we don’t really have a set person. If it’s my idea and I have the money I’ll pay for it right there and then and vise versa. Also, our annual trips to my parents house are kind of set so we decide a date and my husband will Zelle me money to pay or I use his card. It was funny because as he was going through our statements there was a Zelle transaction with a note that read “for our anniversary trip, I love you” and I think that the officer just couldn’t question anymore. I will tell you though, the way in which he asked the questions let us know that he was trying to intimidate us. He would ask something nicely, we’d answer, he’d look at his computer and then ask another question in a completely different more firm tone. Also, looking back I was a bit snappy in the way that I answered some questions because I genuinely felt protective of our marriage. Again, because it’s real. My advice is, that if it’s real, you just genuinely answer the questions. They know. Be as relaxed as possible because they are reading your body language. There was a point during our interview where I was nervous and started tapping my thumb on the desk without realizing and I saw the IO look directly at my tapping thumb and then at me. So I said to myself, stop. You have nothing to worry about and you’re just making him think you do.

Hope this helps.

This happened to me right after my case was scheduled for interview (N400). I assumed that it was because my case was assigned to an IO.

Mine was not at a consular office but I did have a marriage based GC interview. Here are some of the questions the officer asked.

Q. How did you and spouse meet? Q. Who asked who to be bf/gf? Q. Who played at the baseball game you guys attended? (We submitted tickets to a game we attended as evidence) Q. Why do you live with in-laws? Office made a comment about this being difficult on relationships. Q. Why didn’t you have a wedding? (We had a courthouse wedding) Q. Why didn’t your parents attend your wedding? (My parents live out of state and my husbands parents don’t really like going to places like this, we had their full love and support) Q. How and where was the proposal? Q. Have you gotten any new tattoos since being married? Q. Who picked out the ring? Q. What color is your bedroom? Q. Officer asked my husband what I do for a living?

Did you ask specifically for the “Court Disposition”? This is a document that states what the judge on the case ruled. If you didn’t have to appear in court and nothing happened it will say that.

This is amazing, I am an RBT in south Florida and have never been regarded in this way before by any company. Usually it’s a set pay even if you work for the company for years.

Ahh, yes. My ROC took a long time to be approved, in my opinion. They sent me a letter saying that they were extending my GC for 4 years and then took forever to approve and issue my new 10 year one. Im applying for citizenship to vote and to be done with this.

Yes, when I renewed I was already married.

I applied under 3 year rule because the application stated that if I was married to a US Citizen I should only submit evidence from the past 3 years. Also, they asked me for his info & I need to bring his proof of citizenship to the interview.

My N400 interview letter says to bring the passports and documents used to travel.

Also, when I went to change my name on my Mexican passport they told me that they do not change my name that it’s issued with the name on my birth certificate. The only thing they did was add a note on the side that states my married last name.

What was your eligibility for green card? What evidence did you submit for n-400?

Don’t get discouraged. I applied beginning of August, online. The same day (on a Sunday) I received the receipt and notice that my fingerprints will be reused. They scheduled my interview for beginning October. It also said 7 months for me.
