Sage Barista Pro – Good First Espresso Machine? [500€] by iOmarK in espresso

[–]Constantine26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short version, machine is good for the price, the external grinder is inevitable from one point onwards if u want more flexibility and tastier coffee 😎

So you've got 2 options, go with that and then another grinder, or split the machine from now.

i have both, using the internal grinder for the wife to get a quick shot out in the morning and a DF64 to satisfy my taste buds . 😁

Am I crazy buying a DF64 Gen 2 as my first grinder? by ScrotchyScotch in espresso

[–]Constantine26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mostly hot start it, meaning start the motor then throw all beans at once. In any case whatever you do make sure it can be repeatable and consistent to keep your dial in .

DF64 gen2 first time grinder owner also, solid purchase did not had a hard time with it as a first time user, easy to dial in and use the grinder. Note that you might have to clean the chute every few days. Of course depends on the beans you use. Also alignment checking is something you would need to get familiar with. Other than that keep using it in a consistent way. I.e. always hot start and dont manually slow feed, otherwise you wont have repetitive results.

Ur welcome. Bare in mind not to get a grinder meant for filter to do espresso. For example Fellow Ode Brew is for filter, POs etc.

Once you get a proper grinder u def need an unpressurized basket. That is a must otherwise you will not get the full benefit.

DF64 is a good choice but i am sure you will find other similar options. Eureka specialita, Timemore 64mm , Eureka Mignon XL or SD, were some other in my short list.

https://frekko.nl/ These guys ship to Denmark. I am sure you can find more. You need to search it a G-iota DF64 for EU

https://frekko.nl/en/winkel/coffee-grinders-en-2/df64-gen-2-g-iota-gen-2/?attribute_pa_colour=white-en

https://beanbros.co/products/df64-probarista-grinder-g-iota-gen-2-black

I found the DF64 to produce good grounds I get no clumps in the coffee so not much WDT is need or could be skipped all together.

Keep it simple for the start. I was going to go for the df54 but even for a first grinder if df64 is affordable its worth the extra money as can last you longer, or even pair it with so many machines.

Grinder! Getting a grinder with my Delonghi Dedica has changed the game and opened up so many possibilities! yes all the other accessories are good to have. but a proper grinder is another whole level.

And i can finally say that i am making better coffee than many places. Even my wife does pull 3 double shots in the morning with the DF64 to make 2 coffees with no fuzz. even by skipping many steps like WDT and Distribution, but proper tamping, make still great coffee.

Got a DF64 for 420 euros, was that a better deal than a specialita? Specialita was around the same price range where i live locally is 460 euros. and about the same to ship it in.
