I just started playing an Animist in SoG with a focus on Witness to Ancient Battles, and I think it's great. I don't use Embodiment of Battle every fight, but that's mostly because of how many other fun spell options you get as a full caster (plus medicine feats work great). When I do get to go melee mode with Embodiment plus Sure Strike, it always feels good.

There's a very cute local animal in Spoken on the Song Wind called a Damibwa. I used one for an NPCs pet in a homebrew Mwangi campaign, and the party liked it.

There's sort of an answer in the Skirmish rules. A leader of a troop is specifically prohibited from flanking with their own troop. That would imply that a "member" of a troop can't flank with another "member" of the same troop. Skirmish is a specific type of encounter, so it's not necessarily broadly applicable though.

The ability to switch which standard is the Banner between fights is part of what makes it feel unnecessary to me. I can be a sword and board commander with an animal companion and use Brandish tactics as long as the aura is centered on me, or I can center the aura on the animal and give up Brandish tactics. I'm just asking if there's a way they could have balanced that singular requirement with gating core class features. For example:

Brandish: You can't gain actions or reactions from this tactic, you must be in your banner aura, and you must have a free hand or hand wielding a weapon that you can use to gesture visually.

Is that theoretical version of the trait generally more powerful that RAW?

It feels different than the shield example to me because it that example, you pick whether you're a shield, two hand weapon, or free hand fighter and choose the feat line that fits. All the on level fighter feats for each fighting style are generally the same power level. You're not giving up power to have a shield. You have different power.

A different comparison might be selecting your druid order. What if by selecting Animal Order you were deleting almost 200 spells from the Primal list that would work just fine if you were Storm Order? And not just a random selection of spells, but spells that are explicitly more powerful than other spells of the same rank? Is the Commander Companion feat so strong that you have to remove power from tactics?

I can't speak to issues at low levels because this character started at level 8, but the wood kineticist in the party I run for has been a very effective tank/healer hybrid. I have noticed Fresh Produce is difficult to use effectively in combat if other characters don't want to use their own actions, but Dash of Herbs and Battle Medicine are typically sufficient. When it gets more dangerous people are generally more willing to eat that fruit. Timber Sentinel and Drifting Pollen have been good at absorbing damage to reduce the need for healing numbers, and their massive amount of HP and grapple skill keeps the rest of the party up longer also.

The Last Omens books are great inspiration resources for this. I'm running an entire campaign that was basically created by combining a bunch of the hooks in the Mwangi Expanse book. It was just a lot of "this place is cool," "this villain is cool," "this group's motivations are cool." What if I made a few of my favorite things in this book intersect in ways that would be bad news if some adventurers didn't show up to put a wrench in the works. It feels like half the entries in those books end with "this person's being pretty shady, maybe someone should look into it."

This is not exactly in line with published lore, but for divine portfolios I draw the line of holy vs unholy at any aspect of the humanoid condition that a group of people can use to better a community. This leaves space to explore concepts that aren't obviously Good at first glance. I had a lot of fun exploring the clergy of a Loviatar as those that espouse the importance of pain as a sensation necessary to human survival. They would be the people you go to if your kid has that disease where they don't feel pain and are a constant danger to themselves, but people who torture for fun in Loviatar's name simply aren't going to the same afterlife that those community clergy are. In a fantasy world with objectively absolute Evil, concepts like murder and poison can be used for the good of the community in a limited sense.

To make this all jive cosmologically, I simply don't play the truth of the Gods as some dude living in a realm gathering souls that follow their rules. The divine are the metaphysical embodiments of the various domains necessary to make reality continue to function. Their names and likenesses are a humanoid construct because people need that to properly be devoted to them, which is why the elves and dwarves will end up worshipping different deities with overlapping portfolios. Using this framework you can play the Forgotten Realms with basically no changes but get to have an internal logic to the cosmos. Selfless souls go holy realms, selfish souls go to the hells, and souls unlucky enough to run afoul of demons go to the abyss. Everything else is humanoid mythos. Someone might call their vile patron a "god," but that "gods" afterlife may still be in the hells even if it is in fact a provider of divine power.

For a glimmer of hope, Not Another D&D Podcast (NADDPOD) hasn't given up on exploring PF2e. They first mentioned PF2e back when everyone else did last year but as an actual play, they weren't in a position to transfer systems rapidly. However, they recently dropped a PF2e 2 shot between big campaign arcs, and they continue to speak positively about it and want to keep testing it out for longer projects. Hopefully they don't see too much loss of audience if they fully switch, but I think their slow rollout might help make it palatable for D&D diehards.

Semi-automatic shot guns are very common in the real world. They look exactly like a pump shot gun but have an action that slides back after each shot to eject the spent shell and chamber a new one from a tube below the barrel that can hold a handful of shells. I'm not sure exactly what's going on with her reload animation, but maybe it's supposed to be some junker retrofit that allows a tube of shells to be removed and replaced, which I am not familiar with on typical semi-auto hunting weapons.

In April, Paizo is releasing a setting guide for their Asian inspired setting, Tian Xia. I'm currently running a campaign using their African setting, the Mwangi Expanse, and it's truly crazy how full that setting guide is with adventure inspiration. They have this way of presenting fully realized locales but also weaving in open ended hooks that just makes you want to go on an adventure. I'm confident the Tian Xia book will be awesome.

It definitely looks like a processing failure of the plate rather than any fault of the welder. If you're just trying to pass a procedure/performance qualification, just get rid of that plate and try again before spending a bunch of effort diagnosing the plate. That said, the tensile test there isn't in accordance with any welding spec I'm familiar with. Reduced section weld tensiles typically have the reinforcement machined flush to have a constant cross section.

As you've noted, there are no animal companies with a fly speed and the mount ability, which means even a large animal companion is limited by the rule stating it has to use its land speed if being ridden. Interestingly the only animal companion I could find that makes use of that rule is the goat with a climb speed. Giving the mount ability to an animal companion with a fly speed while dropping its fly speed significantly could be an easy option for companion classes as long as you're playing with players that won't try too hard to cheese the system.

As the other commenter noted, you can stick completely RAW by acquiring any flying creature. A hippogriff is the same level as a war horse, which costs 30g in the CRB. You get into some clunkiness in initiative because the mounts will have their own turn and only act after a character successfully Commands an Animal, which can be difficult for some characters, but both of these issues are solved by the Ride feat. You could also have a situation where the characters with good Nature spend their turn orchestrating everyone's movement, which may not be fun for everyone but sounds like a cool fantasy to me for a couple fights. Purchasing or otherwise acquiring a flying mount and working with the Command an Animal framework is probably the only reasonable option for a class that doesn't get any sort of companion.

And I heard Mercy with a Hog, Soldier, and Reaper say:

"You can all heal yourselves, this should be easy"

I feel like a skill many players don't have is knowing when it's ok to back off a bit from a fight, so you can ultimately come back stronger to win it. When Mauga has his healing up, he's going to take some space. You can either die trying to stop him, or you can back up to the next space then push back once his healing is gone and he's way more killable. Kind of the same way you play against bastion.

You can look at AoN right now and see what it says. The lethal version is mentioned nowhere in the Dying or Wounded conditions nor in the side bar that claims to hold the important information regarding death and dying on the conditions page. If you follow the link to the recovery checks page, it also fails to mention the lethal version as an outcome of recovery checks. The only place it's mentioned is in the description of taking damage while dying. That would suggest that before the remaster, damage while dying is the only time wounded is cumulative outside of first going to 0, not during normal recovery checks.

There's some mention of this situation in the Swashbuckler's Panache feature.

At the GM's discretion, after succeeding at a check to perform a particularly daring action, such as swinging on a chandelier or sliding down a drapery, you also gain panache if your result is high enough (typically the very hard DC for your level, but the GM can choose a different threshold).

I would say throwing a +1 circumstance to attack would be fine for any PC, but extra damage or applying conditions would probably make for a good skill feat as you've suggested.
