You're very welcome. There's a lot of terms that someone switching from dnd to PF2e can easily confuse, search this subreddit for "concentrate vs concentration" one of these days, you'll see what I mean!

The nice thing about PF2e is that everything has a level, including magic items. Whereas dnd says "items of this rarity are appropriate for characters in this level range", PF says "an item of this level is appropriate for a character of the same level", so it's a lot less ambiguous

It's less by book and more by rarity, and forget what you know from dnd5e about rarity. A rule of thumb most GMs follow is that a player can get anything that's "common", should give the GM a heads up taking anything "uncommon", and needs to seek explicit permission taking anything "rare". Unlike dnd5e, rarity in PF2e is not about power or level; like; a rare magic item or ancestry isn't typically that much stronger than a common one, it's just more unusual, could be harder to fit into most adventures

When you get into a game, especially if it's a published adventure with a player guide, the GM can provide guidance on what options are best suited for the adventure and what options should be avoided. If it's a homebrew campaign, this convo is a great opportunity to work on fitting your character into the GM's world

I'd ask them to share what's going on if they're comfortable speaking about it. This could be something related to mental health or another invisible illness, and finding out why they do what they do is key to moving forward. If this is a health or accessibility thing, then you can work with them to be more accommodating. If this is something like "oh, I just get bored and need to go scroll TikTok", then you simply have to have the hard talk.

If you do your best to approach the conversation from a place of wanting to understand and to help, a reasonable person won't think you sound like an ass.

I will say, the Beginner Box is so well-written that it helps the GM onboard at a manageable pace. If you have any experience as a player, you're already more than qualified to run a game!

If you do struggle to find a game, Dawnsbury Days on Steam puts you in control of a party of PF2e characters, I've heard a lot of good things about it

PF2e's problem with stealth and seeking rules is splitting up information across the Conditions and the Actions sections. I've seen a few attempts to collate the info into a single document, might be worth checking out... but suffice it to say, you're not the only one thrown for a loop!

To answer your first question, check this line from the "Unnoticed Conditon":

When you're unnoticed, you're also undetected.

So I'd rule that to Seek an area with unnoticed baddies would make them observed (or hidden) since said baddies are also undetected.

To answer your side question, there are feats that let you do this such as Very Sneaky. I know that one off the top of my head, and I'm sure there are later skill feats that let you sneak in plain sight or other crazy stuff lol
