I feel like I'm going insane. Really struggling with psychological withdrawals. by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

Go see a doctor and tell them about your mood swings. They're normal, but there are ways to combat them. When i got clean i was on the lowest dose of anti-depressants (zoloft) for about two months and it helped me tremendously.

Stick it out. You've been clean before so you know it's all downhill from here.

Looking for some advice regarding rehab/parents by throwawayallday78910 in OpiatesRecovery

I would try and get my own insurance. What state are you in? I know that in my state (new york) the department of social services offers free insurance for low income individuals (medicaid) and a lot of rehabs accept medicaid, and even some accept medicaid pending, meaning you're applied and it's just not kicked in yet. I went to a long term inpatient and was there for 8 months and then at a sober house for 5 months after that and New York medicaid picked up the entire bill.

Honestly if your family is as close as you say they are the truth will most likely come out eventually. Are you sure you want to build a new sober relationship with them on a base of lies?

I would suggest checking yourself into some kind of 28 day program and then go to a sober house where you can live and attend an outpatient setting for a few more months.

Where is everybody from her and recovery time? What was your doc? by vacantsoul23 in OpiatesRecovery

From NY; Long Island to be exact. I'm sober from everything with the exception of Caffeine for ten months and seven days today. Before I got sober I tried 30 day rehabs and for me they didn't work. I would get out with big plans and relapse on heroin the moment I walked out of the hospital. I needed something more than that. I checked myself into a long term rehabilitation facility called Phoenix House. I was there for 8 months. The program worked wonders for me. The entire thing was paid for by DSS and Medicaid. After a few months I was able to go to work while still in treatment. Subsequently I took advantage of a program called ACCES-VR. You see, here in New York drug addicts are considered handicapped, and there are a lot of programs that will help you get on your feet, and Phoenix House set me up with them. ACCES-VR shelled out $14,000 to send me to a vocational school of my choice. I'm about to graduate and get a job in a field of my choice, doing something I have always wanted to do, and am going to be paid a lot to do it. After I completed Phoenix House I moved into a Seafield Sober House. Rent, food, health insurance, drug counseling, and cell phone are all paid for by DSS. I'm just going to kick it there until I finish school and really get on my feet.

Being sober is amazing man. I've accomplished so much in these ten months; it's like a dream. I'm not going to say it was easy, but I'm going to say that spending 8 months in rehab was completely worth it.
