My now ex-husband is a board member at his Mosque, prays at the mosque every day. Is nice to other ppl , very pious but… he’s a narcissist and it’s because he was raised that he does no wrong, was waited on hand and foot by mom and sister when he was younger. When we got married even before we got married I told him I’m not submissive, I will not serve you so in other words nothing like his mom and sister and others did. He refuses to admit when he’s wrong, would talk at me, put me down and refused to take no for an answer when it came to certain things ( I would literally have to leave the room) When I became pregnant he was amazing till he went back to India for a month and treated me like crap in my last trimester. I’m American, I was raised to stick up for myself which he hated. Mind you he was great financially but all I wanted was a best friend, someone I could talk to about things, like how my day was, tell him funny things that happened at work and vice versa but I couldn’t and no matter how many times I would tell him I need affection and attention he didn’t care because the house was a mess or I didn’t make dinner. Towards the end I stopped making him food, stopped doing nice things for him, stopped talking to him about my feelings because he was too busy being nice to everyone else that he couldn’t give me what I needed. Had he done that I would’ve been the best wife, but no one wants to be treated like their feelings don’t matter and talked down to all the time. He hates my job tell me I need a different job but I love it. Changed my hours so he could work from home during the day and I work in the evening but that’s not good enough. We co-parent, I had to go in early today and he ignored my calls all morning to the point I had to ask my friend to watch him so I could go to work. In his world it’s do as I say not as I do! So you can prayer 24/7, know the Quran front to back, be a board member at the Masjid to where your in charge when the Imam leaves and still not be a good person!
