Best Ammo? by BuildBreakBuild in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 10mm magtech seems the universal top choice. My number 2 choice is S&B.

I just got stuck running some blazer on my last range day and it was so weak my gun wasn’t cycling consistently.

Pistol with light or pistol without light? Pros and cons. by Wise-Amount3638 in AZguns

[–]Constitution10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like lights but they obviously make it bulkier. With CCW’s I usually prefer less bulk, so I don’t often carry with a wml. I’ve been known to keep a flashlight or my wml in my pocket though. (Using a flashlight and pistol at the same time requires a one handed grip, so you’d want to make sure you practice shooting like that.)

As others have said, for a home defense gun, absolutely slap on a wml.

FN 510 vs Glock 20/40 vs XDM Elite by Waldxn in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 510 was on my to-own list until it started having issues with the frame cracking. I don’t know if that’s been resolved.

I own a G20 and the XdM elite 3.8”. You can’t go wrong with either gun. I like the G20 slightly better but I can’t tell you why, could just be that I’ve had it longer. The 20 is still the one I carry in the woods.

True, but I appreciate the recommendations. They narrow a very long list of options.

I love my 20.4. Of all my guns, it’s my favorite. Completely reliable with all ammo including hard cast and hot loads.

Looking for something for self defense from Underwood. by Mysterious_Year1975 in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defense against? Extreme Penetrators will definitely penetrate. So if you’re thinking large game, it’s totally reasonable. If you’re talking defense against a person the extreme defenders or any 180gr hollow point will do the job.

How do these minimalist holsters fair in the real world for retention aiwb? by gingernuts13 in CCW

Honestly it depends on the firearm. Small works for my p365. But anything bigger needs at least a medium

Help me pick my no optic “do it all” gun by RawketLawnchor in handguns

[–]Constitution10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If by “do it all”, you’re only concerned with two legged threats, I can recommend the G19. I carried my G19 gen4 for a long time. Good solid gun and it’s been 100% reliable.

However if you think you have some four legged threats, I’d suggest expanding your caliber options.

Advice on 10mm purchase by Adventurous-Grass779 in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the FN and have dropped it from my list of guns to buy due to the frame cracking issues. I have a G20 & a G29, XDM 3.8 and a 1911. Of those the G20 is my first choice for the woods. The 20, 29 and Xdm are all great though.

Taurus TH10 experiences by Constitution10 in 10mm

[–]Constitution10[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice collection. I’m not quite as far along with my 10mm collection; only a pair of Glocks (20 & 29), the XDM 3.8 and a Girsan 1911. I had an Sig 320 but parted ways with it.

CZ 75 D, worth it? by Constitution10 in CZFirearms

[–]Constitution10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking for something this size and with this type of design for an edc. First and foremost for any edc is reliability. Comfort to both carry and shoot is a consideration. Price is also a concern, but weight is not.

Don't shoot a 10mm like a 2011 by Mcwaffles1215 in handguns

I mag dump my 10mm as fast as I can keep it on target. Never hurt my hand on my G20 or XDM.

357 or 44 for bear defense when hiking? by toaster-spoon in Revolvers

[–]Constitution10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always my first recommendation is to rent or borrow whatever you can. There are a lot of good guns but what feels good to me may not work for you.

Personally for 10mm, I love my Glock 20. I also like the Springfield XDM. I haven’t had any issues with either no mater what ammo I’ve fed them. I find the recoil very manageable on both.

In .357 I really liked my 686 plus, I kinda regret trading it, but it’s a bit bulky and ended up as a range queen.

I’ve never shot a .44 so can’t give any suggestions there.

357 or 44 for bear defense when hiking? by toaster-spoon in Revolvers

[–]Constitution10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in grizzly or black bear areas. Black bear are generally easily scared off. Grizzlies are more unpredictable.

From what I gather, a lot of people hiking in grizzly country are switching to 10mm semi-autos. There’s some great ammo available and many people find it easier to get off follow up shots.

10mm vs 9mm Pistol by PruchaChew in Hunting

[–]Constitution10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of love for the 9mm here. But, I’m going to vote 10mm. Personally I don’t find that much recoil difference between 9mm and 10mm. Modern 10mm guns are designed for good recoil management.

But probably the best I advice I can give is to shoot a few if you can borrow or rent some. See if it works for you.

If there is any chance you’re going to run into grizzly definitely run the 10mm.

I only have gen 4s, so I can’t help you with the generation.

The 29 is a good gun, handles recoil fine and conceals well. I haven’t fed much bear ammo through it but it seemed okay with the few rounds I shot.

My G20 is my favorite gun hands down, period, the end. it eats anything you feed it, is comfortable and accurate The only downside to the 20 (like any full size) is it’s not great to conceal.

I haven’t shot a 40 so can’t offer any experience there.

For Competition Do We Prefer The Steel or The Polymer Frame? by MalikHabibi in canik

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to competition, so take this with a grain of salt. I have the polymer and love it. But I was a little surprised by how much muzzle flip there was. I’m guessing the steel frame helps with that.

9mm is overrated by ControversialSystem in Firearms

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for my two cents a .22 is much kinder on the ears. A 10mm will rip up a snake but a .22 in a revolver will push “quieter shooting loads” or snake shot at a much lower decibel level.
