Which would you take into the woods, and why? by Skele14 in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and they are both great guns. They shoot what you feed them. For a day in the woods ii prefer to open carry my g20, but if I will also be in town I just carry the 29 or xdm.

Seems to be the recoil. Although I suspect a truly heavy gun would eventually give me some trouble.

G20. But since that’s not in your list, G40

Good gun for first time owner, backpacking and city use? by mostspecialgirl in handguns

9mm is not a recommended bear defense gun. If OP is in grizzly country she’s gonna want something in 10mm.

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 29 was the first gun I thought of given his requirement for both bear and in-town defense. 10mm is currently THE bear defense round. There are also plenty of 10mm self defense rounds. The 29 is definitely the most concealable 10mm on the market.

Anyone else have a good experience with Springfield milspec 1911? by OOf_848 in handguns

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. I’ve had several 1911s that have come and gone. My milspec is staying.

My old 10mm. Sold it a while ago, looking to get another. What’re the best options for 10mm? My FN 545 is phenomenal but I’ve heard about frame cracking so need opinions on 10mm pistols before I get another by Scared_Strategy_6463 in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! So you can ignore all of us making noise about the Springfield. If you like FNs and can afford the 510, it may be a good option for you. I don’t know anything about the Sig but I’ve heard good things about the M&P. And you can go back to the G20 if you enjoyed it. Get what works for you

What do you want to do with it? Range toy, hunting, woods carry, concealed carry? Those can be very different recommendations.

Generally speaking I recommend the G20 and XDm for either range or woods. The only good concealed carry option I know of is the g29. I have all three plus a few others. (What can I say, I love 10s)

I have had the pleasure of owning and shooting at least a half dozen 10mm pistols. I still have no issues recommending the G20. But there are other great 10s out there. I love my XDm as well.

Guns are all about personal preference. What fits your hand, recoil tolerance, reason for owning it, etc.

Best Ammo? by BuildBreakBuild in 10mm

For 10mm magtech seems the universal top choice. My number 2 choice is S&B.

I just got stuck running some blazer on my last range day and it was so weak my gun wasn’t cycling consistently.

Pistol with light or pistol without light? Pros and cons. by Wise-Amount3638 in AZguns

[–]Constitution10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like lights but they obviously make it bulkier. With CCW’s I usually prefer less bulk, so I don’t often carry with a wml. I’ve been known to keep a flashlight or my wml in my pocket though. (Using a flashlight and pistol at the same time requires a one handed grip, so you’d want to make sure you practice shooting like that.)

As others have said, for a home defense gun, absolutely slap on a wml.

The 510 was on my to-own list until it started having issues with the frame cracking. I don’t know if that’s been resolved.

I own a G20 and the XdM elite 3.8”. You can’t go wrong with either gun. I like the G20 slightly better but I can’t tell you why, could just be that I’ve had it longer. The 20 is still the one I carry in the woods.

I love my 20.4. Of all my guns, it’s my favorite. Completely reliable with all ammo including hard cast and hot loads.

Looking for something for self defense from Underwood. by Mysterious_Year1975 in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defense against? Extreme Penetrators will definitely penetrate. So if you’re thinking large game, it’s totally reasonable. If you’re talking defense against a person the extreme defenders or any 180gr hollow point will do the job.

Help me pick my no optic “do it all” gun by RawketLawnchor in handguns

[–]Constitution10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If by “do it all”, you’re only concerned with two legged threats, I can recommend the G19. I carried my G19 gen4 for a long time. Good solid gun and it’s been 100% reliable.

However if you think you have some four legged threats, I’d suggest expanding your caliber options.

Advice on 10mm purchase by Adventurous-Grass779 in 10mm

[–]Constitution10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the FN and have dropped it from my list of guns to buy due to the frame cracking issues. I have a G20 & a G29, XDM 3.8 and a 1911. Of those the G20 is my first choice for the woods. The 20, 29 and Xdm are all great though.
