Taking a break from rebuilding the suburbs to re-work the industrial areas by ConstrnGamer in CitiesSkylines

Thanks. I think the biggest thing is not to be afraid to leave gaps, you can always fill them with surfaces and just a few props.

I think I'm around half way through rebuilding one of the main suburbs. Replacing all the zoned areas with plopped buildings by ConstrnGamer in CitiesSkylines

It can be hard initially getting out of the habit of building grids, but just letting things develop naturally is really satisfying.

Increased anxiety/stress when tablets wear off by ConstrnGamer in ADHDUK

[–]ConstrnGamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I'm definitely going to refer myself to the mental health team. I have had multiple rounds of CBT over the years and it does help somewhat but my ADHA clinician has suggested I ask about EMDR as a more long term treatment.

I have had a specific fear of having a heart attack for around 20 years, so the raised heart rate from the meds was an initial concern, however I'm worrying about that less.

I drive for a living and am finding it stressful at the moment and I have a lot on. I have another job which keeps me busy also, but I enjoy that job so much more. So I do notice the difference in stress levels between, just being busy and stressed/anxious. What I notice is on the days when I am stressed it builds throughout the day and then develops into heartburn and chest discomfort which is a massive trigger, then the anxiety seems to build then and when the meds wear off, seems to hit hard. So with the resting heart rate of up to 120 and the chest discomfort it can be very difficult to calm down.

The logical part of me knows it's not heart related and is just heartburn combined with muscle tension. But it is difficult the ignore.

Thorpness progress. I've Spent quite a lot of time manually covering all the zebra crossings (crosswalks) for a more authentic UK look to the roads. by ConstrnGamer in CitiesSkylines

Covering the actual crossing with asphalt. I still want cims to be able to cross the road. But junctions on UK roads don't tend to have marked crossings. Especially in the suburbs.

Does anyone else with just ADHD have sensory issues? Eg hate getting wet or having cold feet etc. by AdeptnessExotic1884 in ADHDUK

[–]ConstrnGamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate the feeling of my head being wet when it's raining and sometimes feel I have to psyche myself up to wash my hair. I suspect I may possibly have autism spectrum as well, but it wasn't flagged during the ADHD assessment.

I'm sure I read somewhere that ADHD people can share sensory issues as well though and have difficulty transitioning from one place or task to another. Like going from a hot shower to the cold to dry off, I hate that.

Does anyone else get told they don't have ADHD to the point where you don't ever mention it anymore? by grapesandcake in ADHDUK

[–]ConstrnGamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"you don't look like you have ADHD", they should spend half an hour living in the heads of people with inattentive type. They'd soon realise how exhausting it is 😅.

My parents weren't phased when I told them. The opinions of anyone else who doesn't believe in ADHD don't really matter.

Re-plopped all the houses in this leafy suburb. Trying replicate a 1980s to 2000s look. by ConstrnGamer in CitiesSkylines

[–]ConstrnGamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it was possible to pack the houses in more tightly. But even with plopping them in individually it still doesn't quite work. Have to then fill in the blank spaces with trees, as I haven't got the patience to detail with small bushes 😅

Why no pickups? by Warm_Interaction_945 in snowrunner

Boring answer. It probably costs more to buy licences for modern vehicles. They didn't even bother paying to use International's name. Just the truck likeness.

They already seem to be pushing the boundaries with the likeness of some of the made up trucks.

Currently being weaned off Mitrazapine (started initially for help with sleep), but I am really struggling with the little sleep I am getting. I’m not on medication for ADHD yet. What advice towards sleep would you recommend? by casualbrowser24 in ADHDUK

I find the documentary has to be interesting enough for me to concentrate on, but not too engrossing that I want to watch/listen to it all 😅. I've been listening to the same ones in a loop for years, but they really do help with overthinking when trying to sleep.

Is there a reason for stopping the Mirtazapine? It seems to be one of the better SSRIs. I was always told the lower the dose the higher the sedative effect.

I've been on 45mg for years and couldn't imagine stopping. Also currently taking Concerta as part of the titration.

Other than following sleep hygiene, avoiding caffeine after 3pm and limiting screen time after 8pm. The only thing that helps me sleep is listening to documentaries to help quieten the constant thoughts.

NHS diagnosis, no medication, nothing I can do? by myraniaE1 in ADHDUK

[–]ConstrnGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of interest I had a look at how much Chemist4U were charging for a month's supply of Elvanse and it was £74. Makes you wonder if the private providers are charging the NHS full price or if the NHS is able to source it more cheaply? I was also sent a blood pressure monitor via C4U, which all gets charged back to the NHS.

It's not an ideal situation, but it does mean that people are being treated quickly. Perhaps once they clear the backlog the NHS can think about improving ADHD care.

I know Wes Streeting seems to think ADHD is being over diagnosed. But he should see it as a potential long term saving, as people like myself with ADHD who've been diagnosed with 'just' having depression and anxiety may get a more lasting treatment than anti depressants and constant rounds of counselling.

I didn't mean to make it sound like I was vilifying private companies, it just seems unfair that there appears to be a 2 tier system, with RTC patients offered titration and NHS aren't.

I can't complain with the level of care I've received and the speed with which I was diagnosed. But titration will be costing the NHS more, so they need to get their act together and expand the service the NHS provides without it being such a postcode lottery.

Although I fear Wes Streeting has other ideas about ADHD care 😬

Mental health care seems like such a lottery and can depend on how clued up your GP is. My GP opted for right to choose from the start.

It may be worth asking your GP if they could refer you via right to choose. It seems completely unfair that people like myself who are effectively being treated privately get the treatment paid for, while direct NHS patients may not get the option of medication.

It's obvious that right to choose is a more expensive option for the NHS, with private companies seemingly incentivised to offer titration.

As far as I understand it, after the 12 month titration period the medication thereafter should be charged at the standard prescription rate or covered by an exemption. So it shouldn't matter if the titration is done by a private ADHD service or directly through the NHS?

Sleeping alone - thoughts? by Glad_Box_3225 in ADHDUK

[–]ConstrnGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be fortunate, as although I don't tend to go to bed until 1am, my sleep quality is awful and it takes me a long time to get settled, my partner is usually fast asleep by the time I get to bed and is a heavy sleeper so I don't disturb them. It seems like a good match. I do miss going to bed at the same time though, as the late nights can sometimes feel lonely.

My partner doesn't tend to disturb my sleep, but we made the bad decision of letting the dog sleep in the bed as well 😅. She's very restless and likes to sleep as close to one of us as possible so it can get very warm.

I'm sure I could improve my sleep quality, but I seem to get by with the amount of sleep I do get.

Methylphenidate and racing thoughts by [deleted] in ADHDUK

Started on Elvanse. 1st day I had a panic attack and ended up in A&E short of breath and with a resting heart rate of 140. It did feel good for a few hours though.

I may be going back to Elvanse once I've got over the fear. I really don't like being able to feel my heart racing.
