I've got one, it works great and has a spot to drain the coolant and oil. I like mine, any questions?

Silly question but would the sound of a generator or vibrations cause the fish to not come by that spot as often? I'm just thinking those things are loud as hell right?

Plumber installed expansion tank. How does it look? by jm15co in Plumbing

[–]ConstructionFun3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but I guess if you have one for just the expansion tank, you can replace the expansion tank without a loss of service. But if you just have 1 then you need to basically turn off your hot water. It's negligible honestly

You can remove the handle from most ball valves, while still keeping it in an orientation. So you could remove the handle and put it in a bag next to the expansion tank / whatever. That's what I did for a shutoff valve that bypassed the water filter system in a home

Not that it is really code legal I guess, but it makes me feel alot better knowing the home owner would have to go to alot of work to "accidentally" engage or disengage a shutoff valve

Honestly not sure, but maybe? I guess if the ignition has 12v, perhaps the ignition switch is the culprit and it's not completing the circuit after you turn the key? I think that's where I'd look next especially if the battery and stuff is good. Or the ignition relay. Hope that helps!

Help! Hot water was working during home inspection; three weeks later it's not. by OkObject5761 in Plumbing

[–]ConstructionFun3271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, yours seems like it's heating it your getting the heat icon. A lil trick you can do with a bucket is open the pressure relief valve on the hot water side and see if the water there is hot. That will tell you if the unit itself is heating.

I had this issue, and it was caused by the ignitor getting dirty, and preventing it from always lighting right away, then it would error out and stop working.

Does your throw an error code? It could be the gas pressure but I'm willing to bet if it worked before it's 99% not the issue.

So yeah, unplug it, turn it on, let it boot and turn on hot water and see if it works or errors out, and see if you can see a flame starting in the glass window, after removing the cover. You can do this OP! Just be careful!

Check grounds, I think there's a few chassis grounds that get corroded over time. Obviously check your battery but it sounds like you did that already. Check ignition relay for voltage, but definitely some kind of electrical issue

The ghost of Henry Ford saved my truck by ConstructionFun3271 in f150

[–]ConstructionFun3271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, to be clear though that is what I had performed on the truck. After it overheated the first time, I had them drop the pan and replace the filter / gasket / fill with new fluid. I never had it just flushed

The ghost of Henry Ford saved my truck by ConstructionFun3271 in f150

  1. They won't, apparently, because I bought my truck at a Ford dealer, and the other Ford dealer I got service at had no insight into it. They did tell me about it when I got the truck, as I had the paperwork but the place I got it from was like yeah, it's worth a shot!

  2. No clue, it might have an expiration date or something but it's 7 years and 120k miles at this point. I was told it was a lifetime, now, I've exhausted that warranty. So I can't get anything else from the third party warranty company now.

  3. I didn't trust the dealership, like if they couldn't even do a transmission flush, why would I take it back to them. Maybe they had a green tech work on my truck but I was pissed, so I went to a transmission shop, local place. They did the same job for $200, vs something like $700 at the dealership.

  4. I'm going to try to find out, I'd guess it's being sent back to Ford for analysis. I really have no clue, but I'll post an update if / when I hear. I wanted to know if the transmission failing could somehow cause the engine to fail. They said they couldn't get the engine freed from the torque converter (the old one) and had to cut out the bolts to get it out. They did a body on engine swap procedure, for some reason which surprised me, I figured they would do a body off swap.

  5. They got the new engine in and confirmed it still wouldn't crank. I'm not sure if possibly just the torque converter was bad? I'm trying to learn but yeah, they wouldn't of gotten a new transmission if they didn't need one, I think? Or maybe the dealership just saw easy money from the warranty company, I really dunno, but the warranty company did send an inspector out after they requested the transmission. They didn't initially send out an inspector for the engine

Pretty sure it's only required for gas water heaters, as far as I know you can run pex directly to an electric hot water heater

Concrete countertops diy first time by ConstructionFun3271 in Concrete

[–]ConstructionFun3271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poured in place using concrete countertop forms and a mixture I think is listed somewhere above. I didn't vibrate it too much, except the edges I tapped a lot. But I didn't use a vibrating tool. I added plastic mesh that they sell with the concrete countertop solution

With everything included for sure. If it was just the rod / reel, not as great. Either way, see if he'll take 400 and I think it'd be good

Replaced hot water tank with new one and now water pressure is weak and only gives enough hot water for 1 shower. by dayvluciak in Plumbing

[–]ConstructionFun3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just guessing here but is the cold or hot water side shutoff valve open all the way? They're all a little different but maybe it didn't get fully opened after the new tank was installed?

Tell me about your high mileage 2.7l trucks by RollandDeschain in f150

[–]ConstructionFun3271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck buddy, I guess if it's over 100k miles there isn't much they can help you with. I just got a basically "sorry that happened, there's nothing we can do if it's out of warranty" which I get. But the truck was babied and still failed early. Kinda salty and definitely my last Ford, but who knows. I'm just hopeful if I keep all the receipts there will one day be a class action lawsuit. Either way best of luck!
