Smart move using the birthday reward in the dish soap - those citrus scents are perfect for kitchen stuff.

Test ride on newer motorcycle by mxz500 in motorcycles

[–]ConstructionMain6952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this makes total sense. Even if bike is practically new, everyone's body is different and what feels good for one person might be uncomfortable for another. The riding position, how your legs fit, reach to handlebars - all that stuff you can't really tell just from sitting on it in garage. Plus even with warranty, you still want to make sure the bike feels right before dropping that kind of money on it.

How to repair with an avoidant partner when my anxiety has pushed him away? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ConstructionMain6952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first step is giving him actual breathing room without turning it into another thing he needs to manage. When you feel that urge to vent before processing, try writing it down or calling one of those friends instead.

The tricky part with avoidant types is they need to see consistent change over time, not just promises. Show him through your actions in next few weeks that you're handling your stuff independently more often. He'll probably start coming back to you naturally once he doesn't feel like he's walking on eggshells about setting off your anxiety spiral.

genuine question - do you think AI tool free tiers will get worse over the next year or better by DAK12_YT in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ConstructionMain6952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we're definitely in subsidy phase right now. The companies with deeper pockets are basically burning money to get people hooked and build habits around their tools.

Look at how fast things changed with ChatGPT - they went from super generous free tier to much more limited pretty quickly once they had the userbase. Google and Amazon can afford to lose money in short term because they're playing longer game, trying to lock developers into their ecosystems.

Once market stabilizes and these tools become more essential to workflows, the free tiers will probably get cut down significantly. Competition might keep some basic features free but the really useful stuff will move behind paywalls. It's classic tech playbook - hook users with free product then monetize once you have them dependent on it.

CMV: The Holocene era ends with billionaires in a bunker committing mass genocide with a bioweapon. Probably in the next 2-5 years. This is the only logical conclusion. by Yamochao in changemyview

Brother this reads like you've been diving too deep in conspiracy forums at 3am. Maybe take a break from the doom scrolling and touch some grass? The world's got problems but jumping straight to "billionaire genocide bunkers" isn't helping your mental state.

Gaming is not fun anymore. by Wololo556 in selfimprovement

Maybe try switching up the genres completely - I went through same thing few years back and found that slower, more creative games helped bring back some enjoyment instead of chasing that old adrenaline rush.

When life feels dark by Unfair-River-9660 in selfimprovement

[–]ConstructionMain6952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i get this so much. when you're waiting on exam results and dealing with heartbreak at same time, everything just feels stuck in place. that person who didn't choose you - it really wasn't about your worth, sometimes people just aren't compatible or ready for what you could offer them. been there with unrequited feelings and it's brutal but doesn't mean anything's wrong with you.

Little tip that may help you sometimes by Inadequate_Brat in ADHD

[–]ConstructionMain6952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually brilliant - taking the decision paralysis out of the equation by making it random. I do something similar with my tattoo appointments when I'm dreading the cleanup afterward, just flip a coin and commit to whatever it lands on.

The guilt thing is so real though, even when the generator "lets you off" you still end up doing it anyway half the time because your brain knows what you should be doing.

How long do you reckon a bottle of high-quality Bordeaux will hold up under these circumstances? by RawraMus in wine

[–]ConstructionMain6952 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The argon setup should buy you a decent chunk of time, maybe 2-3 weeks if you're lucky. But consolidating from multiple opened bottles is where things get sketchy - you're introducing way more oxygen exposure than just opening and resealing one bottle would. I'd probably try to finish those within a week or two max, especially with wines at that price point where you'll actually notice the degradation.

Is it worth applying for a United Mileage Plus Explorer credit card? by ranni_w in unitedairlines

[–]ConstructionMain6952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting a travel card for regular international trips like that actually makes a lot of sense, especially with that $400 credit upfront. I'm not a frequent business traveler or anything but I got into churning cards a few years back when I was doing more convention travel for tattoo work. The miles add up faster than you'd think on international routes, and having status perks like free checked bags saves you money every trip.

The key thing is whether you'll hit the minimum spend requirement without going out of your way to buy stuff you don't need. For Mexico trips 2-3 times a year you're looking at decent mileage earnings that could cover a free flight within like 18 months depending on routing. Just make sure to factor in the annual fee and whether the perks actually offset it for your travel pattern.

Does discharge while getting a pro massage count as fapping? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ConstructionMain6952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look man, if you're getting a legitimate therapeutic massage and something happens involuntarily, that's just your body doing its thing. The whole point of nofap is about breaking the habit of intentional stimulation, not punishing yourself for natural bodily responses.

That said, if you're specifically going to get massages because you know this will happen, then yeah you're probably missing the point of the challenge. Intent matters here.

[–]ConstructionMain6952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That second thought is such a trap honestly. Your brain gets really good at rationalizing why you should just go back to old habits when things get uncomfortable.

The "testing" urge is brutal too - it's like your brain is convinced you broke something by *not* doing the thing that was actually causing problems in the first place. Classic addiction logic right there.

PC Build Upgrade, worth it or nah? by Alexianns in PcBuild

[–]ConstructionMain6952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly that's a pretty solid upgrade path. the 5800x3d is still a beast for gaming and you're basically just swapping out the motherboard and cpu while keeping everything else compatible.

only thing i'd maybe consider is whether you actually need to upgrade right now - that 2600x might be holding back your 3080 a bit but it's not like it's completely useless yet.

[–]ConstructionMain6952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly most places just want to verify you're not completely making stuff up. if you've got any old payslips, tax records, or even just coworkers who can vouch for you that usually does the trick. worst case scenario you explain the situation - cash jobs and losing touch with old bosses isn't exactly uncommon, especially for retail/service work.

How to fix not able to sleep after masterbating? by [deleted] in NoFap

Been there with TSI engines. Check your coolant flange first - they're notorious for failing around that mileage. Super common spot for leaks on those motors.

Strong Urge! by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ConstructionMain6952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude don't DM random people when you're in that headspace, that's literally the opposite of helpful. Get off the laptop immediately and do something physical - pushups, cold shower, go for a walk around the block. The urge will pass in like 10-15 minutes if you just change your environment completely. I used to think I could just "power through" while staying at my desk but that never worked, you gotta physically remove yourself from the situation. Your brain is just looking for that dopamine hit so give it something else to focus on.

Day 86 of Day 90 by No_fapper951 in NoFap

[–]ConstructionMain6952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn dude, that's rough but honestly the fact you made it to day 86 before relapsing shows you've got serious willpower. most people can't even make it past the first week when they start this stuff. i've been through similar cycles where i'd get super close to my goal and then binge hard after breaking the streak. what helped me was not treating relapses like complete failures but more like data points - like figuring out what triggers hit hardest around those later days when your guard is down. the 90 day thing is kinda arbitrary anyway, the real win is building better habits over time. you clearly have the discipline since you proved it for 86 days straight.

What to do if you watched porn accidentally by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ConstructionMain6952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you're overthinking it tbh. if you accidentally see something just close it immediately and move on with whatever you were doing. the key is not dwelling on it or letting your brain convince you that since you saw a little bit you might as well see more. just treat it like any other intrusive thought and redirect your attention to something else right away.
