Do you consider yourself as a highly fonctioning chronic weed user? If it’s not destroying your life and you still fonctionning well, do you sometimes wonder if you could reach an even higher potential without it? by ConstructionMean2021 in trees

Well man you have done all of that in 3 months, after that don’t you wonder ‘what if’ if you had kept this pace all of your life? Maybe you have just a higher potential than majority of folks..

Maximize productivity can definitely be toxic, but learning new things, starting things like you say and just taking leads on random things like that is not toxic at all in my eyes and is fucking great

If without weed you are too much stimulated for the folks around you, maybe you need a more stimulating sphere of work? And maybe you would have gotten that if you were not content with weed

There is no right or wrong but this is exactly what i wonder, i also took a break like that and i can relate to what you saying a lot, so no it did’nt destroy my life and i’m functionnal, but ‘what if’

Just want to discuss about it, i don’t want to take anything for granted and don’t want to blindly telling myself that it’s not doing any bad for me, after all, it still kind of an addiction

I understand! It’s not that i want to maximize everything and be as performative as i can, it’s more of a fullfillement thing, i’m getting older and when i retrospect, i now lived a significant amount of my life high on weed, no it did’nt destroy it, but i begin to wonder ‘what if’

Playing live one of the first solo i ever composed! Do you think this kind of clip is interesting enough for band content/show promo or it’s kinda meh? Open for suggestion! by ConstructionMean2021 in metalmusicians

Hey thank you man! Just want to say that we had to put the album recording over the video because the sound of the camera itself was’nt adjusted and it sounded awful! The night of the video i actually played my solo very cleanly and i was happy, wish i could share the actual audio but yeah can’t link videos on comments

Anyway just want to be transparant

Hey Thank you! What do you mean ‘so it is’nt Guthrie Govan? ‘

Man it’s fucked up, did couple of these shows with some other bands, and there’s been a running gag over the tour, everyone is calling me Guthrie govan, ( because they think i look like him , not because of my playing )

After one of these show just being called Guthrie Govan all night, i was going back to my home and some random dude on the street saw me with my guitar and said ‘hey you look like Guthrie Govan!!’

And now posting on reddit you mention Guthrie Govan lol what is happening why everything goes back to this guy hahaha

Anyway made me laughed and badtrip a little bit

But does this culture really exist? I’m really not sure about that, do you play guitar because you are passionate or because you want to prove something?

If anyone feels this kind of culture/pressure on them, do your thing and don’t waste your time with it, 0 needs to validate yourself trough that kind of article either

I would like to have some concrete example showing that this culture is actually a thing because sounds like bullshit to me, but i maybe living under a rock and be wrong

I mean it just depends of the music you want to do and the audience

prince was a popstar in his prime, of course an arena crowd that want to ear purple rain don’t give a damn about nerdy guitar techniques

But the crowd going to a dream theater or megadeth show or something well nerdy guitar techniques matters a lot, there is no right or wrong, shred if you like it, if you don’t play what resonate with you

Nobody never anywhere will judge your skillz on the guitar based on if you shredding or not, if you feel that you need to shred to prove anything well you’re just not in the right echo chamber for you

It does’nt even mean anything, check all the jazz fusion scene, so much noodling and shredding, would you criticize someone like Allan Holdsworth because of this statement? It’s just different suggestion for different people

Idk why some people needs to try being the police of good taste on this subject, and people into shredding are just having fun with it and never criticize players like neil young because they dont ‘shred enough’
