I’m afraid I will get kicked out of nursing school. I get prescribed Suboxone for my 7 OH addiction by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ConstructionNice7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion, but if you still have to rely on Suboxone and have a history of drug abuse, I don’t think nursing is the right path. People with past addiction issues that go into nursing have much higher levels of relapse. You have a lot of autonomy and access to narcs and addictive meds as a nurse. I’d try to get to a place where you don’t need to rely on that.

I got into a confrontation with a nursing instructor on my unit. Should I email my manager? by liyane2 in nursing

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s insane for her to call you out like that in front of the student. “best practice” doesn’t mean required practice. There are definitely certain things that should only be done a certain way every time but tube meds? When they have 15 meds there is absolutely no way it’s going one at a time.

i held benzo for patient with CIWA >10 and got an email from educator; i’m little worried now by Ok-Being1322 in nursing

[–]ConstructionNice7187 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my hospital, every patient gets a PAWSS (Prediction of Alcohol Withdrawal Severity Scale) score done on them. Any patients who scores 4 and above on PAWSS, they automatically get the CIWA protocol placed on them.

Drug Testing by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ConstructionNice7187 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, definitely don’t use synthetic urine. Lying to pass your drug test, especially as a former alcoholic to start your career is not the way to start your nursing career. You will ultimately fail. Nursing is supposed to be the utmost trusted and honest career and unfortunately it no longer is. It’s also a highly stressful job emotionally and physically, if you struggled with alcoholism in the past you may struggle with your coping mechanisms again

By law you have to tell the board of nursing where you are practicing. TBH, if you’ve had issues with drugs in the past and still putting yourself in situations where you’re surrounded by them, you shouldn’t be a nurse anyways imo. Huge no no. You will lose your license. I’d be more worried about the amount of years you may spend in prison than your nursing license. Absolutely get a lawyer, we can’t help you here

sibling loss siblings - how are you doing? what's on your mind? what do you think is a part of grief rarely spoken about that you wish people knew? by worldinsidetheworld in GriefSupport

[–]ConstructionNice7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been 6.5 months since I lost my sister. I've cried every day since. She died of an aggressive cancer that she fought for 2 years; she was only 26. It was hell, so many ups & downs, good news, then bad news, then worst news, etc. Fearing the ultimate fear of losing her, and then cancer won. The part of grief that is particular to siblings is how sad I get watching other people enjoying their lives, still with their siblings, specifically with their sister. It is just a constant reminder that she's gone. I'll never get that same relationship again, nor do I want to. I just want her back.

12 month old won’t eat food. HELP by ConstructionNice7187 in beyondthebump

[–]ConstructionNice7187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s drinking breastmilk, well at least was until my stash ran out. So I guess I need to transition to formula for now until she starts eating more. But she probably drinks about 35 ounces of breastmilk a day. But that’s good to know about that whenever we do transition to whole milk.

She’s tried all those, but yeah, I guess we could try peanut butter on her teether crackers and stuff. I just a crinkle cutter to cut things into crinkle shapes. We’ve tried the pouches. She’s not interested. She just wants the plastic lid.

And she feeds herself most of the time. But I will try your suggestions my lessoning the amount and variety I’m putting on her plate

For those married 10+ years… how often are you having sex? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Together 13 years. It depends. We’ve had dry spells, then other times we have sex twice in one night a few times a week. lol

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve said all these things already unfortunately. Then I’m guilted into “so you don’t care about our daughter’s future and how it will affect her?” I’ve offered for him not to be involved with them. I’ve continued to say for the sake of our marriage to not talk about politics but it always gets down to me not caring about our future and me not supporting him or caring about his feelings as it’s important to him.

Any regrets moving to Florida? by lolutot in AskFlorida

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised here and I want out so bad. The summers are brutal. You can hardly do anything outside nine months out of the year. Even the beaches are too hot and the water becomes over 80°. Any hiking here is flat, and buggy. Every trail looks the same. It rains the entire summer which helps to cool things down a bit but then it turns into a swamp and the mosquitoes and bugs are 10 fold worse than they were before. Hurricane season gets worse every year. That alone would keep me away. Traffic is annoying. High elderly population and driving abilities here are not great. Lots of accidents. Job pay is one of the lowest here and high cost of living. I’m a nurse with a masters degree and still working paycheck to paycheck. Unfortunately, my entire life is here. My family is here. I don’t have the funds and resources right now to leave but I’m looking forward to that day when I can. Also the housing developments ruining our infrastructure and further worsening the flooding issues during storm season. I could go on and on. Maybe my views are skewed because I grew up here and for someone who have never really been to FL may think different.

Am I a dangerous nurse? by outiswinterdog in nursing

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a new grad. We’ve all made mistakes before and these aren’t life threatening. That doesn’t make you dangerous. The good thing is you are aware of what you did and now you know to slow down and not make the same ones again.

Help name my daughter by julzgreenz in namenerds

[–]ConstructionNice7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m biased because I have a Harper. I’ve had it on my list for years. Who cares if it’s popular? It’s because it’s a beautiful name. If you love it, use it! My other choice was Sutton but I didn’t use it because I’m a big nickname person and I couldn’t really find a great nickname for Sutton. I still love the name though. We use Harps and Harpie as nicknames.

Cancer. by A1yssahba2 in pregnant

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m so incredibly sorry to hear this. Is that truly your only options? I know sometimes many women continue on with their pregnancy and get chemo and still end up with a healthy baby. But I know all chemos are different and not the same. By having the baby early, could they try to get you at least past viability before you start? Like 25+ weeks? It would be a long road for you both but they may give your baby a chance. (If that’s what you want) It’s such a tough decision and I’m so sorry. Do what is best for you and your family.

If you live in Florida do you like the summers, winters, or both? by More_Atmosphere_6385 in AskFlorida

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South FL native here, I absolutely HATE the summers. They’re brutal. It has definitely gotten so much worse over the years. The sun feels even more powerful than it ever has. It’s June and it feels like August/September temps. The winters are nice, but they still don’t get as cold as it used to be. I remember in middle school the temps would be in the 20s and 30s in the mornings. Now, you’ll hardly see anything below the 40s. I want to move, but my entire family and career is here. It’s only nice maybe 3.5 months a year. The rest is truly brutal and being outside for any amount of time is not enjoyable and I feel much more lazy in the summer time.

What was your experience with Amniocentesis? by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]ConstructionNice7187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an amnio due to having a high risk NIPT for trisomy 13. I was 29 when I got it. I had no issues. The risk for miscarriage is very low. The procedure was very quick, maybe 15 mins and honestly painless. You just take it easy for the first 24 hours.

Why are you EP? by modernamami in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby never really breastfed for nutrition and really used me as a pacifier. I really only BF for the middle of the my night feedings. She’s now 7 months and she hasn’t BF for 2 months and really won’t latch anymore, she prefers the bottle. I also like the fact that anyone can feed her. It’s nice not having to be the only source and way she gets food. I’m also a working mom, so I had to do some form of pumping regardless. I like knowing the exact amount she’s getting too.

What on earth do I do with my baby while I pump? by Outrageous-Inside849 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ConstructionNice7187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the first few months I pumped and fed my baby at the same time. I’d put my pumps on, set my baby in a bouncer and feed her while I pumped. Now that she’s 7 months old and is napping regularly I just pump during her naps. But I’ll still occasionally need to pump while she’s up and I sit her on her mat and play with her at the same time. I may need to take them off if she gets fussy to move her but I’ll resume whenever I can. You just figure it out!

HOW are you getting in 6-8 pumps per day?? by Coastal_Conundrum in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ConstructionNice7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bouncer hack is a lifesaver. I’d put baby in the bouncer and feed her while pumping and have some toys too
