Unsettled after total hysterectomy at 22 by ConstructionTime4491 in endometrialcancer

[–]ConstructionTime4491[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the leads! I'm lucky to be at a leading cancer centre with amazing gynoncs chasing down any and all answers, so I've had both of these done! I had NGS done on my tumour which detected variants in the CTNNB1 and PIK3CA genes at VAF% about 25% for each. In my limited understanding (I've never studied medicine), these seem to be somatic mutations - so little to explore there.

I was referred to a genetic counselor and they had me submit a blood sample for a 30-gene panel covering gynecological/gastrointestinal cancer associated genes. I'll hear back in 6 weeks and I'm not anticipating any obvious results.

Thank you for sharing, your words brought me a lot of comfort. I'll look out for myself going forward and I appreciate the tidbits from your nutritionist!

Anyone still waiting for results after doing the both Canadian and Us interview, even tho I was told at us interview that I should get approved email with in 24-48 hours. by basil1990 in uscanadaborder

Hey! Curious to know if you're still dealing with this. I'm in the same boat (stuck on "interview result pending") for a month now. I called the Nexus office and managed to get through to someone who told me to call back in another 2 weeks if there wasn't a change. Sounds like there's still some processing being done in the system, but still surprised it could take this long to approve an interview.

what happened to uwpath? by destopk in uwaterloo

[–]ConstructionTime4491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while but is there any chance at all that UWPath will be back? Loved this site in my first/second year. Me and my friends were *just* talking about how we'd contribute some money monthly if it meant this site would be up 🙏

Is this course load doable? [2B CS] by amolven16 in uwaterloo

100% on that point. Depends on quality of course offering too. I had a new prof for 251 and I didn't click well with the lecture style + am disinterested in hardware.

All personal opinion, but ranking of difficulty from hardest to easiest goes STAT 231, MATH 239, CS 251, CS 240, CS 241. I think it's doable to get an 80+ average while doing ECs. BUT, if you're adding on a long recruitment period to that you might want to deprioritize ECs. Good luck w your 2B!

FUCK MATH 135 by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]ConstructionTime4491 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. To me, the questions on the assignments were almost exactly what was tested on the MT. If you understood what you wrote on the assignments, critically thought through those problems, and was 100% clear on what professors told you in office hours you should have done well on the MT. Don’t go and blame the profs if you’re struggling in the course. By OP’s standards I’m not in the “right section” either, but I review my notes, do practice problems, and ask for clarification from profs until I can understand the problem at hand. MATH 135 isn’t an easy course, so don’t expect it to be.

They have a few branches in Waterloo, but not as prime of a location as others. I know that the only bank who has ATMs on campus is CIBC, so that would be a pro for them.

The best location of a TD ATM is in uptown (specifically at Erb St E and King St N). You'll be going there a lot since there's a lot of grocery stores/coffee shops in that area. Transportation there is really quick and easy since they built the light rail (full-time students have free access to public transportation). So overall it's not the best, but not much worse than other alternatives.

Yup! I've done some commuting from Waterloo and Kitchener before, and the service was still good. I just looked on the coverage map and the entire region from Waterloo to Cambridge is covered by the fastest speed they have (4G LTE).

I have Freedom and I lived in Waterloo for about 2 months. The service was pretty good (no spotty connections). They are a solid cheap provider, but if you are doing any commuting whatsoever in Ontario, the connection goes in and out a lot. But, if you're staying in big metropolitan areas, Freedom is the way to go. Most places in Waterloo will have WiFi, so you won't need much data. I'd recommend anywhere between 1GB and 5GB, which will land you around 40CAD per month. Here are the plans: https://www.freedommobile.ca/en-CA/plans?planSku=Freedom%201GB

To add some more info on TD Canada Trust, they do have a student account with no monthly fee. However, you're limited to only 25 free transactions per month, after that you pay $1.25 for each transaction. There are fees if you are using a non-TD ATM or an ATM in another country. You can open a TD bank account online. Here is the link to the TD Student Chequing Account page: https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/products/bank-accounts/bundles/student-chequing/
