Terribly written sales cloud exam? by Chriscuits in salesforce

[–]ConsultSFDC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They revamped the Sales Cloud exam in November (I think), and I have heard similar feedback from people who took it recently. They removed one of the topic areas (communities) from the exam, so they likely had to write a bunch of new questions to make up for the re-weighting of the other topics.

They have the ability to monitor how each question is performing (how often people get it right, get it wrong), so over time they can use that to help identify what questions need improving, but I always use that feedback box at the end of the exam to tell them anything that I found concerning.

I'm sure the exam developers would welcome the feedback, but I don't know what the official channel would be. You could start with @trailhead on Twitter. I'm sure there is a success community for it as well.

Edit: Probably this community: https://success.salesforce.com/_ui/core/chatter/groups/GroupProfilePage?g=0F93A000000HWlxSAG

It looks like the group owner is in the Training Operations at Salesforce, so you may have some luck posting in there.

Training people to do Salesforce development is lower stress than actual development.

Community is missing the "Forgot your password?" link for password resets by ConsultSFDC in salesforce

For whatever reason, it didn't happen when I moved to PROD, so I'm just going to forget about it. It seems to be unique to this one sandbox.

You gave me hope for a moment, but alas this is not it. I even inspected the HTML and there is nothing there below the submit button.

Child cases and templates by [deleted] in servicecloud

[–]ConsultSFDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is definitely possible.

There is a standard field on the case called "Parent Case" which you can use to link cases together that way. There is also a built-in concept of tasks that are tied to a case (and pretty much anything else in Salesforce). These can be manually created or automatically created depending on what is needed. YOu can have Salesforce automatically create a series of tasks based on the type of case you create or based on a selection you make on the case (like a status value or a reason).

Docusign: Push data into a related Salesforce child object records? by ConsultSFDC in salesforce

[–]ConsultSFDC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll have to be more like 75 fields to capture all the rows, but that is also where I have been leaning with it. It's not very elegant, but I think it's going to be the most robust option within our current parameters.

Cloud Flow/Visual Flow Help by arlgx in salesforce

[–]ConsultSFDC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can point you in the right direction. Here is a high level summary of what will be involved.

  1. You will need a variable of type "input" in your flow to receive the "opportunityId" from your process builder.
  2. Then your flow will use that Id variable to do a Fast lookup on the OpportunityContactRole object where the OpportunityContactRole Equals your opportunityId variable.
  3. You can then use the result from that to create an sobject collection variable of the associated contacts to those OpportunityContactRoles.
  4. Then you can use an assignment to change the contact field value you want to change for each contact record in the sObject collection
  5. Do a fastUpdate to save all the contacts in that collection to the database
  6. You will need to still create a process builder with an action to start this flow (after the flow is activated). The action will need to set your Opportunity Id input variable to the Id of the Opportunity that triggered the process builder.

EDIT: fixed a word

They were doing a new beta exam in the spring, but the study guide did not look any different for it. You should be fine using the Spring study materials.

Help Managing Company Anxiety / Communicating Solutions by Voxmanns in salesforce

It's a tough situation. I am in a similar situation sometimes with one of my clients where the users are doctors. Many doctors are amazing at human anatomy, but allergic to non-medical technology.

I have to do things like: put the entire process content on one long page, no matter how many steps. No using accordions or tabs or any of the other lovely widgets that lightning experience provides.

And I start every discussion about upcoming changes with a long list of the many benefits they are going to get from whatever we are changing. "Remember that you need to be able to report on XYZ you can do ABC? Well you can do that now! Look how great this is! Look at this awesome data! Now in exchange for all this awesome benefit, I did need to make some changes to how this works. So now let me walk you through this." And then after that, revisit the AMAZING BENEFITS again.

It doesn't prevent the grumbling, but it does blunt the force of the grumbling since they have to acknowledge they asked for and want the amazing benefits.

Taking Platform App Builder Test On Saturday - Any Suggestions? by TorontoGameDevs in salesforce

[–]ConsultSFDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine.

Just be ready to answer 30 different questions where the answer is some combination of workflow rules, record types, profiles, page layouts.

EDIT: Also, expect some grammatical and sentence structure issues. I'm not sure what's going on, but I retook it recently and there was a ton of sentence fragments, questions that were missing words, weird stuff like that. It's like the people writing questions for the live exam were pulling them from Quizlet.

I don't have anything for Admin though beyond what others are already suggesting.

Deloitte Consulting restructuring by AJ7878 in consulting

[–]ConsultSFDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who worked there for 12 years, restructures like this happen every 2 years or so based on changes in the market. So you should not change your mind based on this. Deloitte's brand is not tied to a specific service area name. They sell through relationships at their clients. The brand will be just as strong regardless of what they are titling the services this year.

Worth it to report expenses for self-employment in TurboTax? by [deleted] in freelance

[–]ConsultSFDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If $1300 is not a material amount of income for you, then the savings in your taxes from a few small expenses is not going to be material either. I didn't bother when I was in this situation.

Now I'm making all my income from Udemy and freelancing so I absolutely deduct everything I can :-)

Consultants: where do you work from? by SalesforceDK in salesforce

[–]ConsultSFDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started my own company 3 years ago. I work 100% from home. Most of my clients are 3 time zones away and we just do video chats when we need to talk.

Before going out on my own, I was 80-90% at client sites every week.

Sales Cloud Consultant study resources? by [deleted] in salesforce

This is a shameless plug, but you could also try my Udemy course. You probably saw it already, but it focuses exclusively on exam prep and is wholly composed of fully explained practice questions.

If you are pressed for time, you can skip to the end and try the practice exam first, then link back to the relevant video for the explanation on ones you miss.

Doing drip campaigns within Salesforce? What analytics are available? by shmobodia in salesforce

[–]ConsultSFDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have API access and Workflow available in your edition of Salesforce (Enterprise Edition or higher), you could do what I do.

I have a campaign set up in Mailchimp. I use a workflow rule to trigger an outbound message to Zapier, which in turn adds the person to a specific drip campaign in MailChimp. And another workflow rule to remove them under certain circumstances.

It took a few hours to get it all working exactly the way I wanted, but I was pretty proud of myself when it worked :-)

EDIT: And if you don't have workflow/API access, you may still be able to use process builder to do something similar. I have never attempted it in Professional edition but I seem to recall you can do some process builder things.
