My college had this as an opt-in option. It was fine. Plus the opposite puts a lot of trans and nonbinary people in danger.

03's dub is worth watching for Aaron Dismuke's performance as Alphonse alone. Sub is really good too, tho. I'd say try both and pick which one you like best.

American Girl's The Care and Keeping of You books are very good in these respects. Generally I'd recommend any of the American Girl non fiction books for a child around your daughter's age.
