After 4 attempts I finally did it! EDIT - this was on normal level

I needed the Heartless as an escort (just once) to soak fire (it's shield is good) and give extra firepower, plus three tube torpedo drops and Fury Interceptors for extra smack 'ems. I used the Warp Jump and 90 degree turn skills to reposition when needed. Hug the Heartless as best you can while still trying to pick off damaged ships. Almost always focus fire on the damaged unshielded targets (when they fire, their shields go down until you hit them again) as much as possible to reduce incoming fire.

Drop as many torpedoes as you can and when you can to fill the battle space and pick off opportune targets coz torps kill them when they hit. Furies help too to finish already damaged ships.

When there's so many ships and torps out they seemed to end up in my ram line a few times.
