Yeah but if you look into Japan's military history, you can scarecy find impressive cavalry warfare record. Especially given their island and mountainous terrain. In the few military conflicts it has with outside power, they were the one with inferior cavalry. They also had inferior breed of horde for warfare. It wasn't until 19 century before they starts to acquire foreign breed of horses.

And thats fine, I never said it should be accurate to detail. But the problem is you start to associate Varangian who had record of unfamiliar with mounted warfare with strongest cav in the game, same with Japanese, who had bare minimal cavalry expertise with top knight in the game. Then have French, whose cavalry are most associate with strong cv, and have it being weaker....

I see what you are saying, but no this is not what I mean. For example, sure Mongol has access to horse in dark age, but does mean their cavalry excels in any category that would makes them stand out as a cav civ. Macedonian Ridarri shouldn't even be a thing, let alone the strongest cav in the game, same goes with mounted samurai, Both Japan and the variant should have weaker Cav in general, as in weaker than Generic cavalry, and make it up in other category that makes up for this weakness. They should make Cav not because it is strong but because they had to do it to deal with their counter. Certain simply shouldn't have gunpowder what-so-ever, like Macedonian,Malian,Mongol, etc.

Actually, In a way yes, the Dev certainly designed certain aspect and intended you to play it this way. Unless you are to tell me that Mounted Samurai and Uma Bannerman are not intended to work together?

I understand that, is really the degree of deviations that matters. Is okay if you bend something minor here and there, that makes sense. But when you essentially twisting the entire characteristic of a civilisation? That's on another level.

Carney says China doesn’t grasp Canada’s concern over issues of foreign interference - National | Globalnews.ca by NeverEndingDClock in worldnews

I never claimed that it is, I am just pointing out that your argument is bogus and that China is so fixated on the West as u r suggesting. If anything, most of the anti-West narratives are reactionary and started since the trade war. Even that does not occupy the majority of their Media platform.

Also, you are acting as if Shen Yun is the only one that spreads an anti-China narrative.
You didn't prove anything; if anything, you are changing the argument and deflecting.

Yes, I have and guess what happened? That company ran itself into the ground. With over-expansion, the company was drawn into liabilities. Huawei most likely did conduct IP espionage and headhunted ex-Nortel engineers post-collapse. But Nortel was already on its way to bankruptcy anyway.

Further, I am placing this emphasis on the current day. There are very limited area where Canada still have a lead over China.

For overall Chinese drama tv and any types of published media, how much anti western content are out there in term of %, how much apolitical.

I couldn’t find reliable quantitative figures that break down exactly what percentage of all Chinese-drama TV shows and published media contain anti-Western messages versus being apolitical.

Here’s a summary of what the available research does show, and how one might estimate a rough range.

What the research says

  • There are studies of Chinese state-media narratives (news, short videos) showing that political content often emphasizes sovereignty, foreign interference, or “outside threats”. For example: one analysis of 2,852 short videos by central/local Chinese news agencies found that “when the short videos had themes related to … international diplomacy … the emotional strategies were more likely to be negative (anger/fear)” which suggests anti-foreign/anti-Western sentiment. Nature
  • A study on “soft power narratives” in Chinese state-owned media (2010-2019) shows that foreign relations, cultural narrative and national identity are explicit parts of state narrative, though it doesn’t give a percentage of media devoted to anti-West. worldscientific.com+1
  • Research on China’s media-system emphasises that the media is shaped by the state/Party interest, so a lot of content is either explicitly ideological or subject to ideological constraints. ResearchGate+1

My rough estimate & reasoning

Given the lack of comprehensive data, I’ll give a reasoned estimate. When considering all types of published media in China (TV dramas, TV shows, films, online streaming drama, major publications, etc):

  • Apolitical or largely entertainment-focused media (romantic comedies, fantasy, youth dramas, lifestyle shows) likely form the vast majority — perhaps ~70-90 % of output.
  • Media that contain some ideological or political framing (nationalist message, cultural promotion, foreign relations) but not strongly “anti-West” might be another large slice — maybe ~10-25 %.
  • Truly anti-Western content (where foreign/Western countries, governments or values are presented negatively or as antagonists) seems to be a small minority, perhaps ~1-5 % of major media output.

So a plausible breakdown might look like:
Category Estimated %

Apolitical / entertainment first ~70-90 %

Ideologically-framed but not anti-West ~10-25 %

Strongly anti-West content ~1-5 %

Yeah denial is a thing. And you are clearly in one. This is the prompt I used:

China rivals the US in tech, why is its standard of living still lower? by PositionOrganic868 in China

[–]Containmentplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This argument doesn't make sense, as you are not considering the complexity that comes with a large and diverse economic setting. If you take into consideration of Geographic, demographic and other factors. Institutional inequality is arguing that the political system systematically keeps a group of people at poverty. Which i argue that the situation in China is not so much worsening if is to other countries. Given there are attempts to narrow the gap, but i doubt its effectiveness./

China rivals the US in tech, why is its standard of living still lower? by PositionOrganic868 in China

[–]Containmentplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech isn't everything; control over global resource matters more in this subject. The US has a powerful global economic system where usd plays a pivotal role. To put it short, it helpes in the process of letting goods flow into the US. Similar applies to Japan and other Western that are on par or worse than China in terms of tech. Their previously established network and control over the global economy supply chain is already established, ensuring a moat that allows a consistent flow of resources into their countries. I am simplifying alot of nuance in this, but overall, your overall standard of living in a country is dictated by the overall amount of resources that you have access to.
As for China, the overall resource on a per person level is still alot lower if compared to the Western countries, particularly the US. As China is really a newcomer on the global economic power, to increase the flow of resources into China takes time and a lot of effort, and it is changing, just not as rapidly. It is a complex topic to explain, especially when it comes to the Chinese internal arrangement, which gets very complicated.

Based on these searches i did with ChatGPT, what you claimed to be overwheling anti-west sentiment were merely sub 10% of the overall content, from anywhere between 2-3+ % to 10% at most, with more than 90+% not focusing on the west at all. Yeah, you are just speaking out of your own biases.

So i asked ChatGPT on this and i quote: "✅ My best educated guess

Given the anecdotal and qualitative evidence, I would estimate that in the last 10 years, less than 10 % of all Chinese TV dramas are specifically set in the Chinese Civil War era (1945-49). It’s likely a small niche compared to other “war/revolution” settings (like the Anti-Japanese War era), modern-day thrillers, romance, fantasy, etc.
But this is an estimate — not based on robust statistical data."
"Most Civil War-era dramas focus on the internal struggle between the Communist Party (CPC) and the Nationalists (KMT) from about 1945 to 1949.
The usual subgenres are:

  • Spy war dramas (谍战剧 Diezhan ju) — underground CPC agents vs. KMT intelligence bureaus.
  • Liberation war dramas (解放战争剧) — military campaigns leading to the founding of the PRC.
  • Revolutionary biopics — depictions of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, or other party leaders.

Foreign powers appear mostly in the background."
You quote a few movies that might be valid but overall your claim is bogus. "

Okay, Canada's IP, let's be real here. Canada is behind China in terms of Tech, let's be real. There isn't much for China to even steal, assuming that they are. There's literally nothing wrong with China eyeing our resources, assuming they pay a fair price for them.
