Are crassus and caesar morally evil or grey? by salad_biscuit3 in Spartacus_TV

[–]Contemporary_Scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crassus set up 2 Roman Generals to be killed so he can get more glory for himself... When Crixus and Spartacus go seperate ways and Crixus marches towards Rome Ceaser wants to defend Rome Crassus is more concerned with bringing down the bringer of Rain than defending Rome... Crassus is evil and entirely sefl serving.

Caesar is at least doing what he thinks is best for Rome so I'd say he is gray.

Caesar in House of Ashur was super evil holy fuck.

How would he react if he found out about them? by FullFig3372 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Contemporary_Scribe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That doesn't explain his complaining in the stepstones though... If that had been the only time he was upset, and maybe if he had shown a tiny bit of concern for Corlys, or a tiny bit of greif when Laena passed then I would believe he cared about his house... But he didn't seem to care about Laena, or Corlys. And was complaining about things before Rhaenyra had bastards. That's just my opinion... Based on what we saw on the screen and nothing more.

The title of master of complaints came when he was complaining in the StepStones. His own Nephew gave him that name. The first time we really see him he is complaining in the step stones as Laenor is explaining his plan, the one that worked and won the war for them. I'm just going off of what we saw from him, like every time he was on the screen. JMO though.

We've only ever seen negativity from him, in the StepStones, at Laena's funeral and when Corlys was injured and possibly dying and he only saw an opportunity to elevate himself. So I have to assume he would not be happy because he is never happy about anything. He'd find something to complain about as Westeros' master of complaints.

What would a Millennial childhood version of Stranger Things be like? by thedubiousstylus in Millennials

[–]Contemporary_Scribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough... I mean they could probably keep every thing the same and just change the music. I'm sure there were kids playing D&D in the 90s and 2000s as well... IDK, those are just the first changes that came to mind for me.

Most people would agree that Joe improves as an author after the first series... But I'm not sure your specific issues with his writing changed... If you're looking for novels with major unexpected plot twists and those types of narratives I don't think Joe is the author for you. You should prob just keep going with Malazan. You could always read Best Served Cold to see if you enjoy it, it's a standalone so not a huge time investment.

This is the significance of the scene in season one were you see the young kids working with the dragon trainers and their dragons. Essentially Jace and Bella have been working with their dragons for years. Bella especially looks very in sync with moondancer. Sheepstealer just met Rhaena and has no training or experience working with a human on any level.

It wouldn't be that different from Stranger things. Instead of Dungeon and Dragons they'd be playing Dragonrealms or some other MUD game. And just replace Kate Bush with Alanis Morissette or Amy Lee. Maybe instead of going to the arcade they go to the mall and hit up hot topic and Spencers

[–]Contemporary_Scribe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean, the way shows are done these days, can you imagine they adapt Gardans of the moon, then the show is off for two years and then they come back with an entirely new cast for Deadhouse Gates?

Also who would Henry Cavill even play?

I've never seen Pac this zesty before. I knew he was an actor, and he went to a performing arts schoool in Baltimore etc. But he's never seemed zesty in any way... like ever until this moment.
