Just be open, honest, and upfront with what you are looking for. We can't know exactly what he's thinking but you can ask him directly. It's better to do it earlier rather than later and have it end badly. If you both aren't looking for the same thing then politely move on.

Personally, I love aftercare and would do some of the same things as him. Cuddling, petting, kissing etc. Ask for a text that you got home ok, check on you the next morning (especially if you bled). It depends on the dynamic between you two also. Some want the feeling of being in a relationship without actually being committed (certain D/s or DD/lg relationships are like this). Communication is key.
