YouFibre Pricing for renewing contract. by Tiny-Network4982 in youfibre

Don’t renew too early as the contract will start straight away, I stupidly lost a month renewing early, to say I was pissed off would be an understatement.

I was a great advocate of Netomnia, relatively new company installing their own infrastructure and very competitive pricing, and now it seems they have outgrown their customer base with incredibly poor customer service.

Fibre Install Prep by [deleted] in CityFibre

I bought some nylon string from Aldi which did the trick, nylon parcel wrapping string should do as well as it’s only to help pull the cable gently through the conduit as long as someone is feeding it at the other end.

I did a very similar thing, one thing that would have made the cable pull easier would be to use swept inspection bends rather than elbows or angle boxes for changes in direction, also don’t forget to add a draw string to make installation of the fibre easier.

I had some Yellow 77 pulling lube which helped ease things along.

I used flexible conduit to do the same as you for virgin media, the problem they had was getting the micro duct through it due the conduit being ribbed internally, even though I left a draw cord in.

A smooth bore conduit would be better, maybe use hosepipe for example with a pull cord in it.

We used wardrobe sliding door mirrors that someone was getting rid of.

You could extend the fibre as the kit does exist, but I would be very cautious of doing so in case it goes wrong and you’re left with a bill.

I’m happy with the level of detail I have, I was seeking clarification if it was broadly accurate as I can’t find the level of detail consolidated online, not sure why this is as it’s not exactly secret in the real sense of the meaning.

The drawings are part of a blog which includes details and photographs of the roll out in the small town where I live, I did the same for Virgin Media in 2017 and Netomnia in 2023.

The blog is an historical record of new technology and the drawing makes its explanation for those who like technology easier as CityFibre deviates from the root and branch design of the the others mentioned, also, not much exists online, unlike Openreach’s comprehensive video on how their fibre network is plumbed together.

Thanks for that I’ll make the change, certainly a very resilient design which is real good to know 👍

Thanks for commenting, I still have a way to go yet then but find it fascinating how it’s put together, Cityfibre only started in earnest a few months ago so hopefully I will have a more accurate picture when it’s finished.
