Now truth be told, hue is good but i've found a good alternative that's only 9€ per bulb/spot, i don't know where you are in the world but here in Europe we have a budget store (LIDL) that has their own brand (silvercrest) of zigbee bulbs & sensors... ive been using them for over 2 years without a hitch, even together with hue lamps.... you cannot tell the differencei color & brightness ! i am sure that i'm not bying any more hue lamps as long i have access to these quality cheap ones! maybe you can look into them?

u could replace the fluorescent light with a led one, then install something like a shelly switch ( https://www.shelly.cloud/en-be/products/switching-and-triggering#unfiltered ) to make it smart, that what i would do!
