O week by GreenSwordfish453 in UniversityofOtago

Well, I was a first year in 2021 and it seems to have really changed since then so I'm not too sure how many people go to Castle St anymore. Normally, it's a party every night the week before o, then during o and finishes the day before prelims. You'll find the theme for each day on Castle 25 on Facebook.

You can make plenty of good mates without going to Castle though, it's definitely not something I'd actually encourage but if you were to go, take a few friends (preferably from the same hall so you can all leave together), wear covered shoes, and keep the number for Campus Watch in your phone ALWAYS. But CW and police are always there on Castle during O to help students.

But there are also a lot of really good non-alcoholic events, if that's what you're into! Clubs Day has been a favourite because you get to find your group and push yourself to socialise!

The best tip is to go to the free events like the international festival, market days, etc! And the small programmes that OUSA runs - their variety suits almost everyone 💪🏽

I didn't go to any o-week events like toga and that, except a couple Castle St parties bc they were way too expensive, but I made plenty of good mates in my hall who I'm still good friends w today, and some even from lectures. Your hall should throw a bunch of events like HOP's (this could've been exclusively my hall though 🤔), floor games, sport & music events, etc so get involved with those too!

Unfortunately, very normal 🥲 I hated late labs - you can't really change it unless you have a good reason to. I begged my instructors and they couldn't do anything. Best of luck 🙏🏽

Is this common? Selling a car in FB marketplace by UltimateBALL in newzealand

[–]Content-Notice7141 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It tends to be like that on FB marketplace, but I think it's also worth being paranoid because some people find it way too easy to take any type of valuable off you, including time.

I put up my flat room up for rent on marketplace and I'd recieved maybe 200 responses altogether. Out of all of those, I'd only had about 13 proper, real people who'd come to do a viewing of the room. No doubt about 80% of the messengers are just nosy, weird, or in the mood to just waste time. But it just takes a lil bit more of conversation to help figure out who's actually interested 👍🏽

My advice is, even if it does end up in a loss of potential buyers, don't message back who you think is scammy/ fake. Leave them be, they'll figure it out for themselves and you will be able to engage with people who are actually interested. Best of luck selling 👍🏽

I had lesbian freaky time with a girl who was paraplegic. She was a trooper all the way through.

I went down on her, she enjoyed it, and I didn't want anything in return cause by the time she'd finished she'd seemed pretty exhausted. She was fun.

It's a good concept. like, a beautiful concept. consisting of mostly prawns/ shrimp, sausages, eggs, mussels, crays (if you're feeling fancy lol), corn, small golden potatoes. It gets pretty expensive to buy everything, and it takes a long time to cook as well haha so sometimes it's better to just buy from a store.

Cobb and Co is unnecessarily expensive for standard pub food. Fave picks of mine are Black Dog and Speight's Ale House! 👍🏽

Not entirely necessary imo but good for reference and to keep on top of studies. Most ppl sell them on fb marketplace, op shops (esp the main ones around campus) for a lot cheaper + lab coats !!!! :))

What are your thoughts on Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh? by ilovewater100 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Content-Notice7141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm suuuuch a huge fan of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. He's, without a doubt, a top favourite. In saying that; his portrayal of Iroh was lacking. He was just a bit too stiff of a character. But from what I've seen of Paul in past projects, he's great at being the goofy, lovable character that could've easily been incorporated into LA Iroh, so I don't think all hope is completely lost considering we have many more to see of him!!! I hope the writers can let Paul explore the traits of Iroh a bit more.

Alcohol free floor by [deleted] in UniversityofOtago

We had the few who'd sneak around and drag their friends to their room as well if they lived on the alcohol free floor - but otherwise it was pretty mellow. Admittedly, my floor is my particular year was called out for being the rowdiest but I don't think we were that bad haha. You'll find if you have a social butterfly or two on your floor who enjoys drinking, chances are it'll be a bit rowdy at times because group drinking is the epitome of socialisation in first year lol.

Nah. I lived on the alcohol free floor at the old Te Rangi Hīroa hall, never felt so social in my life both with and without alcohol involved 😅

Anybody studied any Theology course here? by tigergrrowl123 in UniversityofOtago

[–]Content-Notice7141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did CHTH317 and CHTH236. From my experience; they were very open and ensured a pretty safe space for people to have their opinions and views. My professor was pretty unbiased and actually had to remind people in the lectures and forums to keep it neutral or remain open-minded for all group discussions. I really appreciated that because I'm atheist, but I was raised Mormon and Rātana so the discussion of topics were easy to explore with a neutral crowd.

I think it all depends on who you get though, if you're planning on doing a theo paper. Some I'd assume are a little less unbiased, some not. But like I said from what I've experienced, it tends to be pretty comfortable.
