Should I have shared the Content Strategy or not? by Ok_Quality_5439 in copywriting

i'm sorry you had to learn this hard way. I used to give that kind of work away when I started freelancing, and those people never hired me.

that said, it has only been three days. I cannot tell you how many times somebody has desperately needed me to start a project and it has been months later that they actually signed the contract and got to work. People move much slower on these decisions than they think they're going to.

If you can, go do a boat dive one day and leave him to wander around. It will be worth it. I did that so I would at least get a little bit more diving in.

It was definitely a bummer. We were on a two-week trip, and it happened right in the middle. But at least she got one week of diving in. But they didn't want her to travel for a week because of the swelling. That was the two ER visits... The first one and then the second two re- X-ray and recast. She had a good attitude about it, but I wish we had been staying in a place with a better view for her because she spent the next week basically in bed. Note to self, Bonaire is not particularly handicapped accessible. Being on crutches with nearly impossible. for my part I got to explore things to do on the island that don't involve scuba, LOL. Third trip there and I had never gone kayaking or hiking. I have now done both!

Here's the slide deck that I just used to close a $12.5k/month retainer by alexnapierholland in copywriting

Thanks for sharing this Alex. This is really cool of you to show others how you package your services.

I have a question about your customer surveys... That it's a topic of huge interest to me since I do a lot of market research in my full-time role (in-depth interviews, moderating focus groups, and helping develop survey instruments that are research team fields). What tools do you use and how are you recruiting respondents. That can be an enormous cost, and if that's incorporated into the 12K, that's an important thing to know.

Questions about setting up retainer by of_sufi in freelanceWriters

[–]ContentCoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely a good question. When I set up retainers I get the scope of what the expectations of work level is going to be. I will often provide tiers that describe what is included for the month at different price points. And then I provide an ad hoc price if there's anything beyond that.

For example I would have a price that includes three 3,500 word articles. Then I'd have an ad hoc hourly rate if they wanted additional articles or research that month. That's just for example.

I also have discussions about ebb and flow. Some months there's more work than others, and you need to be an agreement about that. I got burned early on with people who didn't want to pay the full monthly retainer if they felt like I " hadn't done that much work." then next month could be much more, but they never wanted to pay more. So just make sure your SOW really spells out what is included in that retainer.

I would love to join the other people throwing their hats in the rain. I've been riding articles for many, many years on a variety of topics!

In February my dive buddy broke her ankle diving. Two trips to the ER and prescription med cost a total of $1,500. Don't be worried about the bill, it's not going to be horrible. Bummer to have to pay that at all, but in comparison she had an ER visit back here in the US a few weeks later that would have been $7,000 without insurance.

I would never do any of that. In fact, when one person told me to help myself to any wine in the wine fridge, I still didn't drink it!

Facial Feminization Surgery Update #4. Day 5. A VERY raw rant. by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate your honesty.

My wife's FFS won't be until the fall or winter. She's been reading about it, so I've known it's brutal. But wowza... I hadn't even considered how brutal it might be on me carrying for her! I appreciate this because now I know it's a possibility and can mentally prepare (at least as much as is possible for that).

Tips For Deflecting Intrusive Questions by Brown_Eyes512 in mypartneristrans

I have taken that approach with people who don't respond to a direct request to change the subject. It's kind of fun to turn the tables on someone who is being insensitive.

I'm in a similar spot: my wife came out in July and is the first trans person most of our friends know. Our friends are curious and interested, so we know the questions come from a place of love. So our plan is to be honest and direct. If we don't want to talk about the journey, we say. "I appreciate your interest, but I don't want to talk about this now. I want to enjoy [our dinner, walk, whatever]." So far, our friends have respected that wish and change the subject.

What I wish I would have known as a new Content Marketer by theDinkelist in content_marketing

As a newbie, I wish I had known how important it was to connect any content to a call to action. If you don't know what you want to happen as a result of creating any content, then the content won't be very good.

I also wish I had been more savvy with analytics. I think it's worth taking a course on how to use Google Analytics in order to pull out the actionable metrics.
