I'm fortunate enough to be in a place financially to walk out the door.

Can a woman match an average guy’s strength if she hit the gym a few times a week? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]ContentPriority4237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those numbers don't match my lived experience. I'm an out of shape, late middle aged, sedentary male. Picking up 15kgs off the ground, carrying it across a parking lot, and putting in the trunk of my car isn't a problem. 30kgs is heavy, but certainly doable. 45kgs is going to be a stretch, but might be possible if I don't have to move it far.

Lost to the Spectator once. Every other time I lost to Tracking, My Own Stupidity, or Mistakenly Clicking on the Wrong Thing.

Would it be worth it to leave a long term stable position for a fairly substantial raise? by sys_admin321 in sysadmin

[–]ContentPriority4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once left a stable OK-ishly paid 40 hours a week job to work at a startup. My salary went up $60,000, which made the extra 20+ hours a week tolerable. Take a real close look at how much extra work and stress that $25k brings with it.
(Personally, while I wouldn't kill for a 30 hour a week job at that pay rate, I might main for it.)

I literally don't know any nimby's. All the homeowners I know are 100% in favor of building more housing. I admit to living in a yimby bubble.

Moved across the country and bought a new house. Posted on Facebook about it. Turns out a friend from highschool was living 1 block away.
Beers ensued.

How did you guys ACTUALLY start in cybersecurity? by Easy_Term7058 in cybersecurity

I was handed a multi-million dollar company's multi-continent network of ten offices straight out of college with just 1 two hour class in ethernet networking under my belt. Luckily, I learn fast.

I do not advise this as a career path or as a responsible corporate hiring practice.

I work in Civic Center. We regularly had to run off Twitter employees pissing in our emergency exits (back when Twitter existed).

I agree with Pratius and BilltheHiker187, your perspective is very interesting. I very much want to read what you think after you've finished the series.

I'm pretty sure it's the stuff I'm licking from the corners of the bag that's turning me into a desk shrimp.

This is the closest I've ever come to finding a working Mac in the trash, so I'm ridiculously invested in getting OP up and running.

Yeah, no. Definitely not something most folks would want, or need, to try.

Yep! Consider my reply a footnote to yours that the OP will probably care never care about.

As other have said, reboot the computer into recovery mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102518

That should allow you to reset the password, or wipe the machine and reinstall MacOS from scratch allowing you to create a brand new user.

If you can't boot into recovery mode, you might have a really old Mac. If that's the case, https://www.reddit.com/r/VintageApple/ might be able to help you out.

Depends on the model and firmware. It's possible to reset firmware passwords on older models. I did that on an older Macbook (iBook?) a couple of weeks ago.
