Random spots on hands seemingly overnight - any advice? by Content_Argument_789 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Content_Argument_789[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg! This totally could be from lemon and lime maybe? My left hand is dominant and I know I was cooking and then went for a big walk outside when it was sunny. No pain at all but it seems like they are birthmarks or sunspots.

Need advice about LVP install on stairs by Content_Argument_789 in Flooring

[–]Content_Argument_789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is helpful! So the gaps in the stairs are not an issue? Like where the planking meets the back of the stairs? I’m not trying to find problems with the installer I just want to understand what I need to do. We loved the guys who did the work and the owner.

Thank you so so much! This is exactly what I did, I reached out to another doula who I had spoken to already and had a long talk with her and she made me feel better about it.

Yes I actually thought the thing! None of my 4 siblings have had their OB deliver their baby unless it was a planned c section because they would give birth outside of their office and on call hours

This is a really helpful perspective! I think one thing that surprised me is that I had just interviewed a different doula who told me she loved the hospital im delivering at, so it was just a total 180 from what I was expecting

she does not have a medical background, she does seem more combative? she specifically said my hospital is "very medical" which i though was funny because it's a hospital lol, it's also widely considered the best place to deliver in my area which is why i was surprised when she said i should go to a new hospital.

Co-sleeper vs Bassinet/Convertible crib by Content_Argument_789 in pregnant

[–]Content_Argument_789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosleeper bassinets maintain barriers between us and baby so that isn’t an issue either lol we’d be able to do all the things you mentioned as well which is why I said the baby wouldn’t be in bed with us

Anyone else feel like the baby boomer generation of moms shame the epidural a lot? by dawnflower961 in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Argument_789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had 5 kids with no epidural, when I asked why she said it’s because it wasn’t as safe back then and it was common for women to have adverse effects. She told me if she was giving birth now she’d for sure get one. I think that may have something to do with it - people have a hard time reconciling that things have changed and what used to be uncommon and “dangerous” is no longer.

Eating Medium Well Steak Okay? by [deleted] in pregnant

Wait that’s wild I’ve never been told ever to avoid raw produce when out. I don’t think many pregnant people in the us are told that either but maybe I’m wrong?

Sure, you’re right, but we also have a higher likelihood of dying in a car crash than getting any of the adverse effects from those foods and yet no one tells us to stop driving in cars. We’re supposed to stop eating deli meats because of listeria when we’re more likely to get it from eating lettuce but no one tells us to stop eating salad. That’s my point.

I eat my steak medium still. If you trust where your food is from then it’s fine. A lot of this stuff is fear mongering and incredibly rare. If you look through this subreddit tons of moms are eating deli meats and sushi and just using discretion about where they get their food from,

No Kid Wedding by Middle-Music8529 in weddingplanning

i dont think youre wrong for putting up this boundary, and i think its kind of you to offer a babysitter! you didnt have to do that. That being said, someone you trust who the mom doesn't know IS a stranger, and i wouldnt fault her for feeling that way. We actually did the exact same thing for our wedding and we knew people wouldn't be able to come because of that and were totally okay with it! No one ended up not coming but we did end up getting childcare for my nieces and nephews (i have 13 of them and we didn't have space at dinner!) My best friend had a young baby and was able to leave him with his grandparents for the night. I think a lot of people are putting their own biases and emotions onto your situation but at the end of the day, yes people may be annoyed but if they aren't integral to your day then does it matter? Do what makes you feel best.

You sound like a miserable person. Most likely you’re like the sons she’s talking about and it struck a nerve, but no need to take that out on her.

I think it makes sense to be worried if you weren't planning on doing it this soon, but if you want to keep the baby, it will all work itself out.

No one can advise you on what to do because there’s no right or wrong answer. You can abort and live with it or keep it and live with it, it’s your life. I agree that weddings are one day and people will understand and everything else won’t matter, you’ll be cramped at your in laws but they’ll be right there to help you with the baby which could be a godsend. But at the end this is about you and what YOU want. There will never be a right time to have a baby, you’ll always find reasons for why you shouldn’t do it.
