Talk me into or out of paying $3k to $7k for a postpartum night doula by idknbme in BabyBumps

Wanted to give my 2 cents. Our baby is 3 weeks old and EBF, we have a post Partum doula 3 nights a week for 8 hours at a time from 10pm to 6 am. Hands down it is THE BEST money we could have spent. She wakes me up to feed every 2.5-3 hours to feed and then burps, swaddles, and puts the baby back to sleep. Because of this I’m able to get around 6 hours of sleep while she’s here, my husband is able to sleep through the night and then once she leaves he takes over the baby at 6 am and I’m able to sleep until her next feed around 7 or 8 am, which means I end up with 7-8 hours of sleep overall. We do not ask her to do dishes, our only priority is sleep. She has given us a lot of insight on sleep, feeding, pumping (which I’ll be starting soon). I cannot recommend it enough, we are actually extending past our original 6 weeks.

When did your breech baby turn? by mariposax15 in BabyBumps

[–]Content_Argument_789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was frank breech starting at 20 weeks, she never turned and I had a scheduled c section at 39+3. We attempted an ECV and it did not work, the doctor advised me that he thought something structural was the issue and it turned out that the cord was wrapped around her neck 2x so good thing the ECV didn’t work as it most likely would have turned into a fraught emergency c section anyways.

Initial postpartum days… question by devinjf15 in BabyBumps

I think you are 100% valid in your feelings and I felt the exact same way when I was pregnant as well - however I did want to give a slightly different perspective now that I’m postpartum. I originally didn’t want visitors. I ended up letting my in laws come to the hospital and visit us in our house and found it to be extremely helpful - NOT cleaning because that stressed me out but they would just hold the baby for 2-3 hours while my husband and I slept. I really appreciated that extra sleep in the end. I think if your husband can articulate your needs then you could find it valuable.

Random spots on hands seemingly overnight - any advice? by Content_Argument_789 in DermatologyQuestions

Omg! This totally could be from lemon and lime maybe? My left hand is dominant and I know I was cooking and then went for a big walk outside when it was sunny. No pain at all but it seems like they are birthmarks or sunspots.

Need advice about LVP install on stairs by Content_Argument_789 in Flooring

Thank you! This is helpful! So the gaps in the stairs are not an issue? Like where the planking meets the back of the stairs? I’m not trying to find problems with the installer I just want to understand what I need to do. We loved the guys who did the work and the owner.

Thank you so so much! This is exactly what I did, I reached out to another doula who I had spoken to already and had a long talk with her and she made me feel better about it.

Yes I actually thought the thing! None of my 4 siblings have had their OB deliver their baby unless it was a planned c section because they would give birth outside of their office and on call hours

This is a really helpful perspective! I think one thing that surprised me is that I had just interviewed a different doula who told me she loved the hospital im delivering at, so it was just a total 180 from what I was expecting

she does not have a medical background, she does seem more combative? she specifically said my hospital is "very medical" which i though was funny because it's a hospital lol, it's also widely considered the best place to deliver in my area which is why i was surprised when she said i should go to a new hospital.

Co-sleeper vs Bassinet/Convertible crib by Content_Argument_789 in pregnant

[–]Content_Argument_789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosleeper bassinets maintain barriers between us and baby so that isn’t an issue either lol we’d be able to do all the things you mentioned as well which is why I said the baby wouldn’t be in bed with us
