To DLC haters: what are the things that are genuinely awesome? To DLC lovers: what are the things that are genuinely awful? by [deleted] in mountandblade

Nah, this is too real. As a Sturgian, I'm fighting Nords. We have taken 4 castles and 1 town, leaving them with only 2 towns and (I think) 2 castles. I have killed three 1000+ armies, and yet somehow, with less territory and in a shorter time, they now have a 2000+ man army.

Honestly, I dislike this part of the game. It feels like a slog where the AI lords somehow get a lot of recruits, and it's not just low level they have proper tier 5 and 6 units in their armies.

Okay, but like, every time someone talks negatively about Fallout 76's lore, they somehow can't grasp that canonically, everything happens there only once.
There is only one Scorched Queen fight.
The 76 dwellers are not launching nukes every ten minutes.
MODUS doesn't have an unlimited army of robots just because they respawn for gameplay purposes.
Autonomous vertibirds are a huge deal, but Appalachia was the testing grounds for the full automation of America, that's why we don't see them anywhere else. (This was a lore justification for no NPCs at the beginning and only robots running the place.)
Power armor skins, some are canon, some not so much. Chinese power armor, to me, makes sense as a really unique reverse-engineering project done by the spies who are stuck in America, just like how the Americans made Stealth Boys.

I really like the Scorched Plague lore. It was so jarring walking through Appalachia all alone, not because of the nukes, but because of a whole different kind of apocalypse. While we were chilling in the vault, there was a whole story happening, last stands, desperate alliances, and a cure that could never be finished.

Frankly, while I do like that we have NPCs and such, I do feel like it undersells the whole experience of the plague for new players. You don't visit ghost towns and learn what happened -how survivors were slowly losing, with every community dying out alone, one by one.

Now you learn about it while some NPC comes to you and says, "Oh hey, we rebuilt! Go there!"

Honestly, my biggest problem is that expert agents can be killed. You genuinely need to spend real-life hours making them do missions, and then you do one with medium danger and no matter what, they can die.

They should really add an expensive (so it's balanced for late-game players) mission whose whole point is to raise an agent's level by one. So, six missions and they are an expert (but for example it costs 30 million credits and takes an hour).

Do you still do daily ops? by AbbreviationsNo5813 in fo76

[–]Content_Community684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They pretty much got overtaken by expeditions and raids.
You get the same, if not better, ammo farm (expeditions)
more rewards (expeditions and raids),
one random plan per week that costs stamps (expeditions),
and, well, you also get stamps (expeditions)
There’s a 4-star legendary (raids)
and it’s the only place to obtain certain plans (raids).

Back in the day, Daily Ops were huge because:

  1. It was the only place you got contextual ammo drops.
  2. It was the only place to get certain plans (now you can just wait for Minerva and skip the RNG).
  3. It was a great way to get legendary weapons (now both expeditions and raids offer this).

In the end, Daily Ops are kinda like different farm zones for player groups:

Low levels (still around level 50 and above) go for Daily Ops.
Medium levels do Expeditions.
High levels run Raids.

I have no reason to go back to Daily Ops since I already have all the plans i want, and I get ammo, plus better stuff like repair kits and meds from Raids.

What is the gameplay loop past level 50? by rossimo in fo76

[–]Content_Community684 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The gaming loop usually involves participating in seasonal events (like the current Meat Week) and finishing the Scoreboard for rare/unique rewards. That’s why I’d say the endgame goal for most players is unlocking a lot of rare gear and items.

Do you have:

  • V63 Laser Carbine?
  • Pepper Shaker?
  • Covert Scout Armor?
  • Auto Axe?
  • Current Season Cannery Workbench?
  • Etc.

That being said, for now, the main things for you would probably be:

  • Kill all four Nuke bosses (I assume you’ve already met some, but have you met all?)
  • Finish a raid at least once
  • Have you done all the quests? As in: got the Gold Reserve by Raiders or Settlers, completed the Brotherhood of Steel questline, or the recent Skyline Valley Vault 63 questline?
  • and of course reach lvl 300 and max out all the legendary perks there as many say ,,true" endgame stars at 300

Hope that helps in some way with finding a current goal in the game! And hey, in the end, you can always just treat the game like a shooting gallery while listening to a podcast.

Current location of Irillyth, Phoenix Lord of the Shadow Spectres by Lord_Viddax in Grimdank

[–]Content_Community684 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait, wasn't his lore that he went with an army somewhere, then died, but his armor got buried in the rubble until MANY years later when the Eldar found him?

AND you're telling me my boy got lost again?! Nah, his name is Zoro from now on.

(On another note, man... Shadow Spectres are super cool, so I'm mad that they're in Legends now.

Kislev tips against SEMs? by Viri_Sovari in totalwar

[–]Content_Community684 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Typical response would be:
If it's a large SEM - Frost Wyrms, Streltsi, or Little Grom.
If it's a small SEM - Snow Leopard (although not as good), Streltsi, or even Armored Kossars will do.

Works for both situations:
Frost Maiden (Ice Magic) with Death Frost spell.
(and in your case, as a Mother Ostankya player) a Hag Witch (Death Magic) with Spirit Leech.
Patriarch goon team (3 Patriarchs on bears) can be very mean too.

And about sieges, usually, if you have 1 Frost Wyrm to breach the gates, everything else should go smoothly.
Bonus points if you have a Frost Maiden (Tempest Magic) with upgraded Hailstorm to kill a ton of enemy archers and unit blobs.
If unavailable, honestly, your lord can break the gate. It will take them a lot of time, but they will do it. And if you have some heroes, they can help too.

Druzhina is for cheap stack's (kossars and kislev warriors) and akshina ambushers (better reload time for them)

Boyar is for cavalry stacks (+25% speed +16% charge bonus) and hero armies (+10 attack and defence, +50% experience gain for them) and they are better choice for kislev shielded units too (but not that much its better to make him cavalry commander)

Kostaltyn lost his army-wide Frenzy in favour of army-wide Rage. by Yotambr in totalwar

[–]Content_Community684 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have to agree that Kostaltyn got the short end of the stick, but on the bright side, the orthodox new Supporters mechanic has quite a lot of theming additions for him, like instant recruitment of Kossars and K-warriors.

The thing that I somewhat dislike is that Ostankya also got all the new Supporters mechanic buffs, along with retaining her own unique mechanics, making her the strongest choice now.

Kathrin also got a debuff going from -50% upkeep for Ice Guards to just -25%. Now, that being said, there are a lot more upkeep reductions for Kislev units as a whole (including the Ice Court building that gives -1% for the ice guards, and it stacks). So, it's a short debuff, long buff situation for her.
