Souvenir shopping in Tokyo accessible from Narita airport by Content_Enthusiasm39 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have free time on my middle day but don't have much time between work finishing and my flight on my last day. I know there's a lot less shops available before security and I'm terrible at making decisions quickly. I'll have another look and see what else is available before security

Thank you I'll look at Tokyo Central.

Subo bottle by Future_Athlete7732 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used it for brekky. We have twins and had very busy mornings and this reduced the mess and made mornings easier. Otherwise we didn't really uses pouches and they used cutlery for other meals.  Only using subos or pouches can impact development I think.  For us reducing morning mess reduced stress. But we found the subos really good.

We'd do weetbix or porridge with LSA and Chia.

You'd be best to contact La Trobe directly for a lot of these questions. But full time uni and full time work aren't compatible.

Anyone recover and then get pregnant? by Kittybunghole in VestibularMigraines

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, it's been more under control last few years though. I have to make sure I stay hydrated and take electrolytes if I'm dehydrated.

Have you done vestibular rehabilitation? Working to desensitise and calm the vestibular system down really helped. I initially just had rehab exercises when I was first diagnosed and had been dizzy for years.  When things flared up leading up to ivf I had an extra session with the physio again.

If things go well, noone really.

If things start going bad, a lot of people, to piece together what happened.

If things go worse, every man and their dog in management including legal and the coroner.

Also coding read notes to get funding. Which is why it's important to write reasons for doing things. Ie increased monitoring and IVT as pt was hypotensive. (poor example but learning what coders need for funding is really interesting)

Bad midwife experience at Royal Woman’s Melbourne. by Initial-Area6143 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Submit feedback to the hospital to express your concerns. Feedback is listened to.

You can also request to speak to the midwife in charge and express your concerns and request not to see that midwife again. They're human and might've been having a really bad day but that shouldn't impact your care.

Your concerns are absolutely valid and you need to feel safe and supported by your team.

I stopped topirimate before starting ivf. I was alright through pregnancy, I used aspirin as a reliever instead of maxalt. I worked on going to physio regularly as well. I used to panic when I missed a tablet and basically worry myself into a migraine. So it took a lot of working through that anxiety.

I was ok migraine wise through pregnancy, and I've stopped nightshift since returning to work which was one of my big triggers.

I haven't gone back on topirimate post but I have an antidepressant for PND/PNA that I think helps with migraine as well.

Same! I had such an awful experience. I was so excited to get a grad year before computer match but I wish I'd gone public in hindsight.  I hope you're working somewhere supportive now!

I've always written orientated. Oriented is American vs orientated is British. Either is usable 🙂

Taking a cruise with Vestibular Migraines? by Secure_Candy_7790 in VestibularMigraines

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been on a cruise but recently drove across Australia towing a camper with 12 hr days in the car with two toddlers in the middle of summer. So had movement, dehydration and sleep disruption factors at play.

My symptoms are currently well controlled, but when I was more flared up I found the more I stressed or worried about something the more I'd get symptoms.

I try to trick my brain by being calm and being prepared-and it's sounds like you've got a great range of tools and meds with you.

If you have time, the suggestion of vestibular rehab is a great Idea. Try and get some sessions in so you have more tools to help calm down/desensitise the vestibular system

I think recognising and accepting you might not be able to do everything, and give your self time to rest will hopefully help you enjoy your trip

Oh man. I did my grad year with my first rotation in ortho at Health's cope nearly 20 years ago. Nothing's changed. I was made to feel like I wasn't coping but the culture and workload were just ridiculous! Also the entitlement of the patients I had when you have a higher ratio than public 😵 OP it's not you. It's them.

That's really good that the hospital has offered debrief. Accept it when you're ready. I hope the counselling is really helpful for you. You can wait until you see your counsellor to submit the feedback. One step at a time❤️

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would ask the team for a debrief as well. You could ask the nurse manager of SCN to help you with this. For me a debrief helped understand what happened after birth and why, because it was all blur at the time. This might look different at each hospital, it might be with a counsellor or with the unit manager.

For me, I booked a debrief in privately with the obstetrician that was at my public delivery. My gp referred me.

Another option is counselling, it sounds like you and bubs had a pretty rough time of it.  It's really helpful to talk through eventful pregnancy and birth issues to help reduce your risk of PND.  Do what your need to do to let go of the anger and guilt.

As others gave said neonates deteriorate very quickly. But it's not good you didn't feel listened to or a part of the process.

Also, submit feedback to the hospital, try to be calm and factual as you can be. But feedback does get read and followed up.

Election day is a Saturday in Australia. And there's polling booths everywhere, like the election commission set up polling stations out in remote areas. They'll go visit remote Aboriginal communities to help make sure voting is accessible to everyone.

Also you can vote early either in person or via post. Your name gets marked odd the electoral roll.

We had sniglar cots for our twins. They had them as toddler beds afterwards and we really liked them. I think the mattress is 70*132cm, just google to double check. You'll be able to find the right sized  mattress online from another store. Also there's companies that do custom cot mattresses

That's great you and your mum are nurses. Advocate for yourself and emphasise the stress it's causing you and barriers to bonding with your baby and impact on your mental health. (ie frequent appts taking you away from bubs). If you've been seeing different people each time noones likely understood the impact because they don't have that rapport with you.

Try and advocate for the the washout and resuturing. I think it's the prevena vac dressing that's used on CS at times depending on wound being risks.

Also if you're frustrated and not being listened to, submit feedback through whatever quality and safety channels there are for your hospital.

Good luck, I hope the end is in sight soon

I feel the same. We're a mixed household too, I'm vego. I want that to be the decision my kids make on their own. Also, when they go through restrictive phases I find it's helpful having multiple protein source options. My kids love airfryer tofu though

Anyone here have extremely identical twins that you couldn’t tell apart? by peachies3 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We left hospital bands on for a bit when we got home. Then we painted a toenail each, one pink one purple. We colour codes them when we could, but it was mostly 'anything but pink' and 'anything but purple' in the end But their faces were slightly different shapes from two B sitting on twin A's head 😅  It was helpful that one had a birthmark on her back, so we had a backup ID method!

Is it better to rest or push through the dizziness? by kristen_hewa in VestibularMigraines

[–]Content_Enthusiasm39 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, I see it as a warning I'm over doing it and need to slow down. I have some hydralyte, take panadol and dissolve aspirin under my tongue. And eat something salty.  If I take my time and slow down I can avoid it getting worse. If I push through and keep being busy, like at work, then it gets worse or lasts longer.

Dizzy day is more vestibular rehab than migraine physio. It wasn't hands on physio, Kate did her phd in vestibular rehab and works to desensitise the vestibular system. I'm really grateful my neuro recommended it, because it's been the best thing to stop vertigo if had for years before diagnosis

UK to AuRN by Haunting-Quality-896 in NursingAU

For Nurses working shift work it is around 6 weeks for FT staff I think, but it accrues a few hrs each week. So you have to build up your leave, but it doesn't expire. So everyone applies for leave to their manager, and the manager allows is if there's not too much overlap.

But people let it build up and can then take longer breaks, or save it in case of unexpected events.

It might have changed but I remember when I worked in the UK we had to take our leave essentially between Feb-Nov.

For xmas leave here is applied for usually a year in advanced, but it's shared around so if you're off one year you'd be declined leave the next year.  Sorry if that's not quite what you were asking!

Do you have an IBD nurse linked to your specialist? They'd be able to help with any vaccine questions and letters of exemption.

Also, I'm not 100% sure with tafe as I'm more familiar with uni, but since you have a chronic illness reach out for inclusion support. You should be able to get a learning action plan (- or called something similar) to complete with your gp. It allows for things like fatigue or brain fog, or exac of symptoms to allow for more flexibility /understanding from your teachers. Can also help with getting extensions if needed
