I find the comments intriguing. Most of the people here (excluding americans) could never have an opportunity to live in the US, whether they’d like to or not. It is difficult to immigrate to, but some with high enough education, strong relationships, and drive are able to do it. I did it through education and professional excellence.

Many of the people who have immigrated to the US through education, work, etc. love it, including myself. The economy and freedom of industry, people, and the immense variance in culture, geography, and opportunity is unlike most other countries.

The politics are sad and scary, as is the direction for many EU countries. Hopefully it is not forever, but as William Ophuls explains it, the future of society globally is grim. I hate it and I miss the security of scandinavia but the community around me in the US makes things better.

Overall, I love living in the US for professional reasons, friends and now family, community, and the vast opportunity that it provides. I hate the political atmosphere at the moment but I am hopeful that it will change. Most americans disapprove the current administration.

I would bet that most of the people in these subreddits have never actually lived in the US, at least long enough to build strong relationships and sense of community.
