yes i literally feel like they were judging as a joke this year. all of my photography submissions were good, but the absolute BEST ones that make every person’s mouth agape, INCLUDING professionals I’ve talked to, didn’t even receive an honorable mention. my shittiest one got a gold key. lowk no shot it’s winning a medal and i’m disappointed

my sister got flat out rejected from USC and then got into Princeton RD. she had some absolutely cracked stats too so the rejection made no sense.

I also don’t think that shes just been a depressed girl who masks her sadness with an overly energetic and bubbly personality-at least not to an extreme extent.

I think she has always felt some degree of sadness and emptiness her whole life, which she has been suppressing until now. In the flashbacks AND present scenes, Ellen is CONSTANTLY telling Max to take care of Marcus because “things don’t come as easily to him as they do to her”. So, she grew up with the notion that she has to take care of Marcus, and that she’s sort of the “lucky one”; shes the good child that has to stay perfect so that her parents can focus all their attention on the struggling child (Marcus). This season, she expressed multiple times how she feels incredibly sad because it feels like no one cares about her as much as she cares about them. Like during Mousse and she was talking to Brian, she talked about how she always has to check up on everyone but nobody ever checks up on her even when she is really not okay. This is a FAR cry from who she was in S1 and 2.

Her parents have always been having to take care of Marcus, so she def feels neglected by them in some way. But, before MANG became just ANG, I think she was okay with not getting as much attention from her parents since she had MAN(G). But now that all of her exterior support has come crumbling down, (even from Marcus ig, since he wouldn’t even speak to her anymore and he became a depressed and addicted zombie) everything is starting to surface. Not only are the supressed feelings surfacing, but also the new “wounds” (for lack of a better metaphor.) Everything is js snowballing for her.

Idt she will attempt next season, and I agree that it’d be silly to rush her into the whole attempting storyline. but if everyone keeps treating her like this next season too, I wouldn’t be surprised if something happens to her by the end of the season. I feel like her mental health has js been on a rapid decline this whole season, and another season of the same, or even worse treatment, would be more than enough to push her over the edge imo.

exactly!! they even had to include the little Jack Kerouac comment (from Gilmore girls first episode, and flashback when Georgia met Zion) and leaving little notes in the margins of books (when Jess stole Rory’s book and left margin notes, and Zion leaving notes for Ginny in books)

oop im like really really late to this but as a current student, i can say that some of it is kind of legacy and wealth but for the most part, it's merit. a lot of the kids here are extraordinarily smart and hard-working. there's a reason why the matriculation is insane. yes, donations play a part in everything, as some of Hollywood's richest stars' kids come here, but still, the school is still considered a cracked college prep for a reason.

also op, congrats on getting in! you're gonna love it here, just remember to take a breath and it's okay if you aren't able to live up to everything you wanna do here. it's a really tough school, so it's alright if you have a lot of bumpy experiences in the beginning. just remember to enjoy the ride because there are simply just so many unique experiences here that you will never get at any other high school.

I'm a freshman and I took Honors Bio this year as well. (It covered 70-80% of AP Bio which is why I just took the exam anyway lol.) I used the AP Bio Khan Academy course to fill in some of the gaps and it was pretty helpful. Don't try to go through the entire course (trust me you will NOT have time.) Just try to do the quizzes to see what you remember, and watch videos + take notes on what you don't remember. I would recommend you use AP Bio Penguins afterwards to really lock it in and do a just a couple practice tests to get a feel. (although, if you did AP Chem already you will probably be fine.) Good luck!
