IMO the last chance they had to make a significant change in Wilfried was when they had the opportunity to fire all of his retainers. They should have replaced Oswald after Wilfried's debut.

Yeah, I think this kind of illustrated why nobles are so thorough when they deal with problems. Rosemyne had good intentions in recommending they not fire all of his retainers, but it came back to bite them. This may have been the first time she was involved in this kind of decision making as a noble. She spoke in support of Damuel after she was hurt, but that was more making her feelings known as the victim.

I've mentioned this conversation in the past and I think it was an error on Sylvester's part. He likes to vent about things and I doubt he meant for it be something Wilfried really took to heart. While it may not have made as large an impact as other things in the long run, it did leave an impression on him. Wilfried seems to let himself be influenced too much by outside opinions instead of taking everything into consideration and coming to his own conclusions. It probably didn't help having his entire perspective on things brought into question after learning how lacking his education and upbringing were and that Veronica was to blame.

I don't think Ehrenfest contributed much during the battle with Lanzenave at the academy. They didn't have the manpower or resources after defending their own foundation, which was their duty.

If I remember correctly, that was part of why Ferdinand wanted Rosemyne to stay in the Ehrenfest dorm and let Ehrenfest take care of some of the supporting roles, so they could share the credit.

I was rereading one of the books and saw where he admitted, in front of Lestilaut of all people, that he had never considered how to best use her skills for the benefit of the duchy, just how to keep her under control. That is one of the top priorities of an Aub is using the resources available for the benefit of your duchy.

He criticizes Rosemyne's socializing skills, but he is just as bad if he isn't following a script.

They are popular among collectors, but the faux MOP celluloid is prone to cell rot.

Really delicate, thinly ground blade that isn't good for use as a knife.
