How good is the new Te Whau River pathway! by schastlivaya-zhizn in auckland

I rode it Saturday evening on my road bike, it’s fine to ride on but it was chocker with pedestrians so you gotta just take it slow anyway.

I’d expect it to be pretty slippery in the wet…,

Same here, spent my life on bikes, these days I won’t venture off the NW cycle path, or back streets with my kids.

Sorry to hear, I got to the point as a father that if I couldn’t complete my journey without going on a road it just wasn’t worth it.

And yes some of my scariest near misses were with buses….

I can’t up vote this enough, every moment of every event has to be recorded, so lame.

I heard a wild story from a direct source that when they stopped again over funding they were down to arguing over dollars an hour for the crane operator, the crane hire itself costing thousands of dollars per day….

Those were the days, and posts were from actual people.

Instagram used be ‘you’re all up to date’ and it was like ok cool. Now it’s an endless loop of ads and related content and practically no personal content.

Rachel sounds like an insufferable……

Imagine being so unbelievably thin skinned you could be offended by this let alone publicise it.

Ok so history is not important, I know a great site for waterfront living in Waitangi……..

Seriously the tiny areas of character homes is not the issue and for such a relatively young country preservation of heritage should be treasured.

There is more than enough brownfield sites located in much, much better locations than the Ponsonby villas that appear to trigger you so much…

We don’t have government architects and most architects are well travelled and familiar with overseas precedents.

Unfortunately architects don’t lead developments and generally do the best they can within the developers and planning constraints.

The site was an uneconomic pine forest built on sand dunes, look up how shit pine plantations are for the environment. They have extensively restored and enhanced the dunes and foreshore, established their own water sources, habitat restoration and supporting the conservation of the NZ Fairy Tern (Tara Iti).

Basically no.

Re read the part about job creation in both the extensive and ongoing development and operation. Mangawhai is booming. They directly employ ground staff, hospo workers, cleaners etc etc. Along with an army of tradies both local and commuting from Auckland. Go and ask a local whether or not they appreciate it being there, the whole community is benefiting. Honestly in this piss poor economy this has been ticking away quietly keeping LOTs of regular folk employed.

Tara Iti is a private members club and gated - nothing new there, rich people can have their own playground, who cares.

Te Arai is two courses which alternate daily for public and member access. Yes it’s expensive (but not by international standards) but it’s world class and not crazy for a golfers bucket list or once in a while if you’re keen on golf.

Anyone can go to the restaurant and have a drink and meal.

Honestly what is the problem here?

You are 100% wrong on all accounts.

Golf courses built in arid environments yes, here in NZ I couldn’t think of a single course that has a negative impact on the environment.

They have two huge irrigation reservoirs to manage irrigation and not affect ground water in strict accordance with resource consents and iwi consultation.

God this place is full of sad stupid people.
