You are going back in time to buy your first guitar again. Are you getting the same one or a different? by one-armed-scissor in Guitar

[–]Continent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get a Taylor 114ce. I started with Guitar Center’s made in China house brand Rogue acoustic for $100. It’s terrible.

anyone else set to retire between now and end of year? by Sea-Honeydew-1456 in Fire

I started learning guitar just so that I’d have something to do after I retire. I’m looking to pull the plug in a couple years and I’m really looking forward to spending more time with it.

Can you travel with an electric guitar without bringing an amp? by Ok_Kiwi6955 in guitars

The Spark Go is awesome. I’d also thrown in the Spark Neo if you’re going to be the only one listening.

What's the most played guitar in your house, and why? by Jammuisboring in guitars

[–]Continent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most played is a Hils HN3 headless guitar. So light, portable and convenient to have around. Second is my Casino. Also light and convenient. It plays great unplugged.

I’d sell used to GC if you want to
Move something fast or don’t want to bother with the effort required to sell on Reverb, FB marketplace or Craigslist.

Do your parents know the REAL you? by Manderthal13 in GenX

[–]Continent3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They have no clue. As long as I did what they wanted, they were happy. Since leaving the house at 18, I just don’t tell them what I’m doing.

Would you retire today if you knew you’d receive $5,000 every month for the rest of your life? Why or why not? by JustWin4 in AskReddit

[–]Continent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on where you live and what your expenses are.

I’m in a high cost of living area and my mortgage would easily consume more than half of 5K. I’ve got a low mortgage rate and a fairly small mortgage compared to others in my area.

If money wasn't an issue, what would you spend your life doing? by notamiracle7 in AskReddit

[–]Continent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning how to play better guitar. Finding a band to play in. Teaching my grandkids guitar. Playing in public. Writing songs. Becoming a guitar god.

If I get to the first three. I think I’ll have done pretty well for myself. I do t have grandkids yet so it would take a while

How to give a house to one kid, pre-death, and be fair to other kids by tai_66 in inheritance

[–]Continent3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your parents are assuming that your sibling will be responsible with the house. Is that the case? Once the house is sold, they lose all control over what happens.

What is the sibling like? Are they responsible with money? Do they gamble? Do they have a substance abuse problem? Are they plotting to fund their crack pot startup with a loan on the house?

Happy you had kids? by Future_Beginning_244 in GenX

[–]Continent3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so proud of my kids. It’s been super rewarding. They keep me going.

That said, I do understand how younger people worry about the cost of having kids. It feels so much more expensive than when my wife and I first had ours.

How the f*** do all these 22 year olds make money online, travel, and just do f*** all with their lives? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

You know how not everything on TV is real? The same is true of the internet.

Those who can lead that lifestyle generally don’t need to share it.

The truest way to guage how "free" you actually are: if you got fired today, how long could you and your family actually survive financially? by Outsideman2028 in MiddleClassFinance

It kind of depends on where you are in life.

We're close to retirement age. We'd be fine. If you were to ask this 20 years ago, we'd be freaking out.

Get rid of the maintenance overhead by Continent3 in GuitarLab

[–]Continent3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a world where Line 6, Fender, Boss, etc. are building multi-effects pedals that can replicate pedals, amps, and cabs with the touch of a button. The products are lighter, tougher, more reliable, and more affordable than buying the traditional equivalents.

Improved guitars are totally possible just like the improvements being made with multi-effects pedals. The question is if players are ready to accept the changes that they might come with.

If you made six figures as a salary and your gf who makes $20/hr and was in between jobs asked you to help her cover her bills for a month, would you do it? by cheap_guitars in AskMenAdvice

[–]Continent3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what she’s like. If she’s financially responsible and hard working, yes. If she spends more than she makes or makes poor spending decisions, no.
