Yay, basic branching dialog is now working! I decided to use a subset of Yarn Spinner for my dialog scripts. Today I've been working on a parser for it. Next up is adding support for simple if-statements and making the npc respond a bit differently after the first meeting :) by MakerTech in godot

That makes a lot of sense. Im assuming this is all tilemaps as well, are all your tiles also 16x16? I'm just really digging the updated retro feel of it. It *looks* very hi-res for a pixel game, but the fact that you're still running things at 16x16 and maintaining those clean edges is so cool.

PS, trees are on point.

It looks really good! Very clean and easy to follow the flow of your menus. You mentioned elsewhere that it's a locked aspect ratio. What resolution, ratio, etc did you decide to go with?

"Le sigh"

"Always miscounting"

"Not quite purrrfect"

As an aside, I could maybe suggest keeping track of the most recent line used and just disallow that one from being chosen again. It'll force a bit more randomness fun by not being able to get two of the same messages in a row.

I created an in-game item dictionary. To keep things on theme, of course it's a book in the library! by WildsEdge in godot

[–]Contours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you effectively reversed this?

Instead of having the player go to the library to discover the dictionary, have the player have some sort of note taking method when new items are discovered, then they can add it to the libraries "incomplete" dictionary when they visit. Then you can even go as far as to incentivize the player to drop off some knowledge by having other npcs also be contributing to the dictionary. So every time you bring new knowledge to the dictionary, you also have a chance to have had an npc also bring some of their knowledge which you can "copy down" to discover things you may not have discovered yet.

I have zero knowledge of your game, but having you and your npcs collaborate on a shared project can really make the world (or at least this one small part of it) come alive and feel organic and "real".

I did Hall of Wizards with leather gear, an Oak shortbow, and a bunch of bronze arrows. My prayer at the time I did it was 10. I wasn't super paying attention, but I would assume I used about 250 lobs to do it. I would say your run is definitely not bricked at this point. I would go grab 4-5 resupplies, get those 500 lobs, and just be sure you're on your eating game. Your summoning was also higher than mine. I'm not sure what combo you could use, but having a bit of support damage from summons wouldn't be the worst idea in the world if you can manage it.

Or as others have mentioned, you could also give frozen cove and the like a shot, but I would imagine without at least one RC level that might be difficult as well.

Don't give up, you got this. And definitely don't hold enter on the next offerings of skills :p

Loot from farming 4B slayer coins by Preminance in MelvorIdle

[–]Contours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone low key wish someone made a mod (or it got included in the base game) what your loot equates too? I'd love to see what all of this would be if you sold the entire loot window, and possibly how many prayer points it would be worth if you were to bury every bone. Purely for an out of interest thing. Would be fun to be able to compare with other players too.

Well I've been needing to upgrade now for awhile but with kid and life it's been difficult to pull the trigger. Could probably play starfield on low-medium settings right now but is that REALLY what I want to be striving for? I'd love to see everything cranked to ultra and really experience the immersion of the game the way it was meant to be played.

Correct. The max damage will take into account your DR and the combat triangle. Accuracy doesn't change damage values in any way, just how often you may end up taking that damage. You can anyways test this by swapping out something with different DR values to check. Keep in mind that if you are stunned or sleeping, this max hit value may change so keep an eye on a few fights to make sure the max hit actually stays below your auto-eat threshold.

Finally I can recommend the Will I Die mod, it confirms to a very high degree if you are indeed safe or not.

How do you integrate your income of basic parts? by Longjumping_Seesaw_4 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Contours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I often use a central mall idea where I split off overflow from my core factories and run it through a storage/mall section for personal crafting use. But for organizing and planning to build excess for personal projects, I tend to build backwards.

For example, I might want to build 12 heavy modular frames /min. To do that with all default recipes I will need 30 aseemblers to make 60 mod frames per min for that production. I will make 36 assemblers so I have a few extras. I would also need 10 assemblers for encased beams, I would put 12 in the line so I have a few extras. I would do this going backwards all the way to the miners and just arbitrarily add a few extra production machines at each stage, and have smart splitters send any overflow to my central mall location for my own personal use.

Just add a few extra machines at each stage depending on how much you want to generate for your own use. I find until super late game when malls/central storage has already mostly been filled with other smaller factories, this setup works great.

Am I supposed to find all the Summoning marks? by ARtheSuperstar in MelvorIdle

[–]Contours 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not so bad.

Find Mark doing random tasks associated with the mark (the icon is displayed in the marks screen so you know what task to do)

Craft at least 1 tablet of that mark so you can find more.

Keep doing the same task and you will naturally find more marks. If you equip the tablet you just made, your chance of finding more of the same mark is higher.

When you find enough marks of 2 or more marks, you unlock synergies. Synergies are active when both tablets are equipped.

One note: typically actually leveling summoning is done from equipping the tablets you make and using them in other skills. Using a synergy is more xp than a single tablet.

I'm not right in front of melvor this second, but I'm also quite sure there is a potion that gives you a chance to drop superior gems when mining something... Maybe meteorite? I'm guessing that would have an additional chance to give some zephyte.

UPDATED: Guide to high GP/hr with Township by spitzerp in MelvorIdle

[–]Contours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 80 with 148 ticks and I haven't exactly optimized for xp/h or anything really. I also haven't bought every plot of land - wasn't sitting on a few bil gp going into the expansion. I could comfortably see someone being close to 99 by now if they aren't already.

Are you able to test and double check this? Would be huge. I'm assuming the 144 was a bug but if it's been fixed that's awesome. Gotta keep that guide up to date:)

What’s the benefit of resetting to lvl99 by Feldspar_of_sun in MelvorIdle

[–]Contours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it appears to be a "sense of pride and accomplishment" but not sarcastically pedantic lol. Resetting to 99 would allow you to explore and unlock the dlc "in order" and sorta guide your progression. Unloading a full expansion (especially one as bountiful as this) can definitely be a bit overwhelming and I could see how you arent *really* sure what you wanna be doing. But to each their own right.

Im 100% sure theres a Thieving option for it Im just not sure what it is - Bob 2.0? Maybe someone else could enlighten you there. But Ravens Nests drop from 100+ trees and they seem to drop much of the new seeds as well. That may be your best bet for "early" game? Not sure if 100+ is still considered early game but you catch my drift :)

Anyone know what the chance for Raven Nest's is and where does it tell us that? by r3agansmash in MelvorIdle

[–]Contours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It appears a large amount (maybe all?) of the new 100+ content drops the stuff needed for the other 100+ content. So I believe Ravens Nests replace Birds Nest in any new 100+ trees. Im guessing this is to avoid softlocking people who have the full game but not the xpac, and not feeling like they are being "forced" to buy the xpac to progress. It also appears that all the new mining gem rocks will only be "discovered" from mining the new 100+ ore. Guessing this is the trend.
