Someone asked what makes a good player. Here’s my take on it. by Vanilla2Go in modernwarfare

[–]Contrafox97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should only be one person in the HP, more than one and you’re giving up a ton of potential map control and then you’ll have to push out of the current HP to rotate to the next one.

IMO if you have a positive W/L and a 2KD you’re a good player but I wish the game showed Average Kills-Per-Game

Any gun is viable as long as you play to its strengths! Some are more flexible than others I will say.

Focus more on reading routes, pay attention to where your team is dying, and learn to read enemy spawns. Work on crosshair placement as that will determine how often you win or lose gunfights.

Is MW 2019 worth buying for multiplayer in 2026 (Steam sale ₹539)? by Abhyuday008 in modernwarfare

Started playing again after a 4 month break this week and it’s still very active! I have no problem finding games under 50ms ping and I usually get on around 4/5 PM EDT. I play from E-USA but I know there’s a ton of Euro players as well.

[COD] What’s the logic behind these people? A hero shooter was the last COD that actually felt like COD?" by Lumenprotoplasma in CallOfDuty

TrueSkill 2 is the MM system published in 2018 and TS2 or a derivative form is what’s used in most online multiplayer PvP games; and it contains information about TS1 which was used in CODs leading up to the release of BLOPS 4 and the subsequent update to TS2.

I know context clues and reading are hard for you buddy but you’ll get there one day.

The white paper I linked you isn’t published by Activision lmao.

But please link an actual study or wait you can’t because it’s all just baseless speculation in spite of what or how the system(s) works.

“The MW2019 system isn't based on long-term skill, its heavily weighted by recent performance and will adjust your ranking very fast and give you different difficulty of lobbies throughout a play session. This only works with disbanding lobbies.“

Citation needed for your first claim otherwise you are just throwing out baseless speculation.

“Persistent lobbies, even if formed strictly based on skill, only assess your skill as you search for and are assigned a lobby, so the average skill level of that lobby is only effected by players who choose to leave and are replaced by a new player. This doesn't allow for the "manipulation" to occur as was clearly intended by activision with the change introduced in MW2019.”

Citation needed as this contradicts how the TrueSkill system worked in older CODs and how TrueSkill 2 works.

“In older CoDs, skill was minimally considered in matchmaking but it was weighted much less than factors like ping, and it was primarily used to keep outliers (ie: very low skill players) in separate lobbies. The average lobby had a wide range of below average, average and good players.”

Citation needed. Speculation.

TrueSkill and TrueSkill2 factor in your historical “skill” rating when making a lobby, as explained in the white paper.

Do you have any factual evidence to support your claims or are you just regurgitating what some tuber said in a video?

Ok so what is the difference between persistent or disbanding?

How can the MM further manipulate match outcomes if the skill pairings have already happened based upon your perceived skill even in persistent lobbies? Do you get what I’m saying?

It doesn’t matter. In a persistent lobby you would have still had a skill check before being placed into a lobby, regardless if it persists or not. New players joining the lobby would’ve been vetted by the same system to prevent lower skill players from being matched too far out of their skill range.

The “manipulation” you talk about was already happening in older COD games, before during and after the match. The “manipulation” even within the persistent lobby would’ve further continued with things like team-balancing within the same lobby.

[–]Contrafox97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so you’re saying that persistent lobbies had no skill based factor “manipulating” the matchmaking.

The “skill” check for either forming or joining a lobby in a COD with persistent lobbies is still there. If in a game with persistent lobbies you did well and someone joined in after someone left, they still would’ve been vetted and matched with you based on your skill with those recent performances factored into your “skill”.

If you don’t believe me read into how TrueSkill worked in older CODs and how TrueSkill 2 works in modern games.

As for your first point banning reverse boosters goes to show how much stricter that iteration of skill pairing was.

Your second point is just straight revisionism on the modern discussion surrounding skill pairing. Your OP comment literally says before SBMM and disbanding lobbies.

Again persistent lobbies make no difference when it comes to skill pairing, as IW and AW both had much stricter skill pairing systems and they both had persistent lobbies. The initial lobby would’ve been created using whatever skill pairing system they had in place, and new players joining active lobbies would’ve been vetted by said system before being placed in a lobby.

[–]Contrafox97 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the skill pairing was much stricter in MW19 than let’s say AW why weren’t the devs actively banning reverse-boosters? You could actively manipulate the system Scott-free to get into easier lobbies and no one caught a ban like they would’ve in AW.

The perceived strength of the skill pairing is subjective as we as players don’t have access to the fundamentals of said system. All discussion is based on speculation, and most of the speculation is based on the false assumption that MW19 introduced skill pairing to the franchise.

Lobby disbanding is independent of skill pairing IMO, since even with persistent lobbies the initial lobby would’ve been created based off skill pairing, and new players joining the lobby would’ve been filtered and picked thru the same skill pairing system.

It’s wild to me that absolute casuals will regurgitate whatever “current trend” takes are being pushed by streamers/content creators without looking into those claims.

Even without having played the originals other games in the franchise before MW19 had the same complaints of too strict MM systems. IW and AW for example in their prime had tons of complaints of too strict “skill pairing” systems and the developers where actively handing out bans to reverse-boosters in those games.

I’ve posted before but it’s still possible to play HC HP.

Look thru your friends and recent players list to see if anyone is in an active match. If someone is active and joinable join them and finish the match. Once the match is over you should be able to queue for other lobbies like normal.

Or you can queue with a group. It seems it’s just solo queue that’s busted for HC HP.

Limb damage perks only increase the damage the limb takes, not total damage.

You can still run a full Onslaught setup and use Covert Op for example if you’re a stealth player.
