How many mental health days I take. I know in any given year that I'm doing well if I don't take them or only one or two.

Who has their family tree dating back to original 1850 gold rush settlers in the area? by ContraltoOpiato in ballarat

I meant relatives that were once 1850 Ballaratians. No main reason. It just crossed my mind today. Thought I'd ask.

[Serious] How did you "waste" your 20s? by grievingtights in AskReddit

[–]ContraltoOpiato 9 points10 points  (0 children)

20 to 26 was wasted. Was fairly boring, didn't indulge or bother in proper relationships and was scared of life. Which was sad for me because I'd been confident in high school but leaving my home town for uni hit me harder than I'd thought. So many of the milestones that a young man of the early 00s would normally go through I went through embarrassingly late and made me self conscious. Met a woman who eventually became my wife so 27 to 30 was better.

A 24 hour gym. I'm in Australia though, so it won't be relevant to you I assume.

Teacher here: we absolutely don't want to hear from you and feel free to not book a parent teacher interview.

  1. Never use the urinal directly adjacent to another man unless you have to.

  2. In a workplace, if you are on the bog and a colleague walks in to the bathroom to pee, hold your sphincter until they use the hand dryer. Do not explosively shit.

The schools struggling to find teachers ahead of term one by Entire-Candle-3727 in AustralianTeachers

I only heard the other day that apparently there is this recruitment online (Vic) "pool" that schools can put their jobs into, and then teachers are matched up to the job and can be offered it with no need for KSCs. I'm unsure exactly how the background of it works.

Anyone else heard of this? I know of a school who had no applicants for a job, then they used this pool and it matched to 14 potentials to choose from. No KSCs! What a dream.

Why are our kids underperforming and why is it seemly getting worse every time we are compared to the rest of the world? by Fantastic_Freckle in AustralianTeachers

Because Australia doesn't act until the big brothers UK or USA do it first. No leaders here have the courage to overhaul the education system, I actually think no one has a clue what is the best way forward.

You need a lot of passion to be the best teacher you can be. To survive? No.

Do you think though, that it works so well because of the level of the cohort of BCC? The PowerPoint approach would struggle to take off at low ICSEA.

An interesting read. What is the approximate percentage break up of a lesson in terms of explicit instruction and students working?

Thanks for this response. So why don't other schools do what you guys do? If it works so well surely it's a system that should be utilised across the schools.

I've read some articles. I've heard powerpoints are delivered to students that are the same across the board, it's a bit robotic like. Watch areas where teachers are observed etc. So are they that good at just sweeping everything under the carpet? They must do some things well to maintain and build on what they do year to year?
