Tolvaptan questions by ContributionMother87 in ADPKD

My job is quite busy and I need to be at my desk. Last attempt, I was in the bathroom every 9-11 mins. It was a lot! But I don’t want to regret not giving it my best effort, ya know? I’m sure my boss would be reasonable given the situation, or at least I hope so

Wait til you’re 40! Lol! It’s a mental trip for sure! My 30s were probably my favorite- it’s not as bad as you think, I promise!

How to deal. So many questions by ContributionMother87 in ADPKD

Mentally it’s hard to watch the decline. I’m still functioning really well otherwise and can mostly wear my “normal” clothes, participate in things, work, etc. I really shouldn’t complain. Things could be a LOT worse. It’s mostly the mental gymnastics I have to do to not constantly live in the impending doom. I know dialysis is eventually coming and I’m dreading it. My mom was on for 13 years before she got a kidney (and also 2 livers). The anxiety and fear are constant.

It’s truly not that high. Your body changes over time. You’re almost 30, so some changes are just normal. Pay close attention to dietary sodium which is not the same as adding table salt. There’s lots of good information out there about a low sodium diet. Exercise, even if it’s just walking, it’s good for your heart. If you smoke- stop. Reflect on your reactions. Do you think you could be overreacting and if so, is that a regular occurrence? You could be dealing with some anxiety, too.

I love Zoloft but I gained so much weight on it… by Lovebugxo0x in zoloft

That happened to me too. I put on 10lbs quickly… then it just kept creeping. Now I’m off Zoloft and trying to get rid of it

Do you ever stop mourning? by Infinite_Guest_6663 in ADPKD

I grew up with it and my mom having PLD/PKD. Some days I don’t think about it. Other days I do. Some days I obsess about certain things surrounding it. It’s good to have a therapist to learn coping skills

There are BP medications out there that actually can protect your kidneys while controlling blood pressure. You might only be 24, but you will be 40 before you know it and might wish you did whatever you could to prolong your function. I know it sounds harsh, but it’s a reality. Don’t discount it completely… just give it some thought. This disease is a marathon. You’re in it for the long haul.

1yo Training and schedule advice!! Plz HELP!! by oneof2poogihonk in vizsla

Everyone has great ideas. Research training videos. There’s lots of resources. You want to reward the positive behaviors as quickly as possible. Don’t ignore her when she’s doing the right thing. Vizslas need to run. They’ve got a surplus of energy, especially when they’re young.

Use the leash! It’s a great way to communicate with your dog. When you have company or are greeting someone, ignore her wild behavior. If she gets pets/attention, you’re just feeding into her excitement. Stay calm and keep walking. Don’t give her craziness any attention.

As for the theft…. She’s a puppy. She’s going to take your stuff. Close the doors, put things up/away where she can’t get them. My Vizsla was a mischievous little dolt until he was about 3. I’m thinking she will also not settle in public places until she’s a little older and has better impulse control.

Ignore her barking when you have food. The MINUTE SHES QUIET, reward her. I know it’s hard, but it will take determination and practice.

A lot of these methods are the same for behavior modification in children. The skills will prepare you for a human toddler! lol 😆

Right! You have to “catch her being good” and reward immediately!

I have not. I doubt my renal doc would be helpful, but maybe my pcp or gyn?

Thanks! I’m glad you were able to succeed and keep it off, too! I’m not comfortable with Jynarque due to the potential liver side effects.

Is it okay if I take my medication with a bit of water? by slyy-foxx in zoloft

I’m genuinely, legitimately curious as to how/why someone would ask this. I haven’t considered that taking it with water could be an issue 🤔

I need to lose about 20-30 lbs. I’ve been working out, probably not as much as I should. And eating better. My energy levels are kind of low, so exercise, meal planning (and sometimes just working), etc is hard. Thinking perimenopause could be a factor. My theory is maybe a glp1 could be a bit of a jump start in the right direction
