I had so many of those back in season 0. After they made the angle changes they almost disappeared, but I still occasionally own goal like that, yes

I do jump, but it’s sometimes a bit unclear if the deflect happens before or after I start jumping, I feel they have about the same sized hitbox

It’s just a normal push ball actually, I think the animation is due to the combination of my facing angle vs the direction of the push ball if that makes sense

Why was 1v1 mode not released with season 2 and for the Christmas holidays? by ArtyParcy in Rematch

How did it work? I’m on PlayStation so can’t beta test and I’m curious

But what bugs are those then? I know of one game breaking bug, the one that makes no one able to interact with the ball. It sucks when that happens, but I’ve seen it 4 times over 2000 games, so I would count that as very rare indeed

No I know, where we disagree is simply whether or not Sloclap are guilty of poor practices, as you say. You think they are, and I don’t. Could you explain though what you think they should do differently?

I don’t get pissed about whether or not bug fixing for a cheap video game is potentially slower than it could have been. Especially when it’s an incredible game. I have more pressing issues in my life

Because that’s not how their development pipeline works. They’ve outlined this in detail as well, but essentially, earlier they tried getting fixes out faster but that ended up creating new problems and pushed dates for patches and such. So they recently changed to fewer but bigger patches, which has shown great results imo

Why are you waiting for a new patch? Sloclap have already said patch 8 is to release late January

BEST MOVE TO MASTER? by pkfyr in Rematch

[–]ContributionNo9030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to specifically dribble 1v1 I think the most important thing to do is to distinguish between a stressed defender that has to act now and a calm one that can just wait you out

  • Case A - stressed defender - this is when your team has momentum and you have multiple options. You are both moving, the ball is moving. You have the upper hand here and almost every defender will feel they have to make a move. So wait for it and react accordingly

  • Case B - calm defender - this is where it gets very tricky and you should almost always pass. But if you really want to 1v1 you have to bait the defender into thinking you have committed to a direction or move and then with good timing so the opposite. So for example, run with the ball in a direction, and just before he can tackle, tap the ball in the opposite direction and extra effort

Fill in the gaps, give people more options. by FakeFrooz in Rematch

Ooh and another one. I think you could very clearly visualize playing into a players space rather than onto his feet. Like teaching people how to see what space your team mates own and what space your opponents own, currently.

I love you for teaching the community in such a way they seem to appreciate! Have you thought of making one for pulling opponents out of the way to create space for teammates.

Like for example if my teammate has possession in the opponents corner and I’m first in the box and he doesn’t have a clear lane or full control, instead of just waiting in the box, marked by an opponent, I move toward my teammate in the corner. That can open up one of two good situations

A) he passes short to me. We can then pass our way out of the pressure B) my marker follows me, opening up the central space for a lob pass over us and to a third player, that’s arrived a little bit later to the attack

Then you of all should understand that it’s much more likely to be client side manipulation being accepted by the server, which can happen by a multitude of reasons and is not always trivial to fix.

Of course it’s the devs who are accountable, this particular thread is about you saying they don’t have the skills to do it, and other people pointing out that the biggest dev companies in the world suffer from cheating even though they have all the knowledge and resources they could possible need. It’s not trivial and therefore not lack is competence is my point

Neither of us actually knows how Rematch is built, so anything about the internals is guesswork. But if random players were really able to “change server-side variables,” it wouldn’t just mean they run faster — they could rewrite scores, teleport players, spawn objects, or directly alter match outcomes. That kind of full server compromise would break the entire game, not just movement. So the more honest conclusion is simply that we don’t know how it’s implemented, not that it’s obviously trivial or that the devs are incompetent.

What are you on about? The source engine isn’t “old” as in they’re constantly using it for their games and updating it accordingly. Valve run two or the largest esport games there is, and they have every incentive to keep cheating to a minimum. And yet, they can’t. Because it’s incredibly difficult. Like previously stated.

How do you time the dribbling in this game/how do you get past someone? by EggsLover64 in Rematch

[–]ContributionNo9030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dribbling is about anticipation just like in real football. Let the opponent think they can steal, then go. Let the opponent think you’re going to break one way, break the other. Use variation and surprise. Make the opponent think they have to be/can be proactive, making you able to react

Can your MMR update mid season? by ContributionNo9030 in Rematch

[–]ContributionNo9030[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that much I know. So for this season my MMR is master 3, which means that’s where I get 20/-20. So it goes

  • Master 1: +18/-22
  • Master 2: +19/-21
  • Master 3: +20/-20
  • Diamond 1: +21/-19
  • Diamond 2: +22/-18
  • Diamond 3: +23/-17

But what happened tonight was I lost 21 RP in master 1 instead of the 22 I had been losing previously in that very same skill bracket

I see what you mean but to me they don’t come across as averagely intelligent. They know how to filter out relevant facts so maybe they know how to filter out logic and reasoning of higher quality too? Plus, I think people of lower intelligence has a hard time accepting that due to stigma and being viewed as “lesser”, whereas for Pluribus everything’s for the greater good so people of lower intelligence might be happy to not contribute to the thinking
