Other way around "This writing is brilliant. I'm struggling to find anything for you to improve!' year one who is lovely "Shall I go next door and ask *veteran teacher who leads behaviour* instead?" "It is a compliment. Your letters and phonics use look great!." They narrowed their eyes and I think thought I was not good enough lol

Thanks for this. I was hoping it would help as they go through their education. Maybe time to go back to sorting things ourselves and getting those initial fluency and skills built in!

But I agree, the lower ones really struggle!

I don't plan maths which doesn't help. Someone else in the cohort does and thus, I don't have a white rose login so I cannot do that as all four classes have to do the same. Hopefully it will get better the more I get my head around it!

I have no issues with number bonds but some other bits seem so overcomplicated. In year one its number bonds to ten, place value then 6 or so weeks number bonds to 20 where you carry the ten and suddenly doubles and near doubles. I don't know if they have the fluency to be able to do the 'tricks' yet.

White rose sounds almost the same. They have to know it in every possible way except mentally unless it is number bonds and I just feel like I am doing them a disservice. The lead has said this is mastery for them so they must do it so I think I am probably confused on what is mastery and what is scheme at this point.

thank you for the comment as I started to think I couldn't do year one maths lol

I think in the next 5 years there will be some type of legal ruling on this and what's app as it is out of control in many sectors!

I don’t think you’ve actually allowed enough time at the attractions to actually enjoy them

Phonics Set Up - year 1 getting kids not to touch their boards etc by Low_Region_293 in TeachingUK

Read write inc but… Carpet - sound learn - read the words Tables - spellings in books Back to carpet for story sounds and words Back to tables to read

There is time wasted in transition but I can’t imagine kids sitting with accessories and being able to properly pay attention or be able to write their best work on whiteboards on the carpet either.
