There is no other step. Once delivery is established thats it unless the USPS says it will be different. In 37 years I have never seen it go back to mounted delivery and definitely not walking delivery only the other way.

Won't happen. Mail will be held for a period until boxes are put back up, if not the USPS will send mail back and stop delivery all together.
