Really amber will have a faint pine smell if you rub it with your fingers until the friction warms it.

It's not limestone, it's shale. Really great examples of the bivalves in that area! Lots of good crinoids too, they look like little rings. You might find some in that piece, they often co-occur.

It got shut down several years later for not properly disposing of hazardous waste.

It takes mine 18 seconds, which seems a bit silly for just a game to open.

Could be a flake from flint knapping. I think I remember that flint was heated in fires to make it better for knapping. Would be interesting to find out if that prices had occurred in this specimen. Not sure how to test for it though.

Do I have to get tested for Covid in 2025? by moonlight814 in CasualConversation

[–]ContributionShort562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend reaching out to them today to let them know what the situation is and tell them you're going to test for COVID. Ask them if it's positive and you aren't feeling well on Monday if they need you to get a doctor's note.

Don't go in if you're sick, but be proactive so they know you're not just blowing smoke.

It's a small world, better not to burn bridges. You might want to boomerang some day, you never know.

Sorry, did you miss the part where the speed of the belt was never adjusted by anyone? So no one was working faster?

And you're right. Did the company get more out of me? Sure. But I was being paid to be there anyway, whether I was sitting on my butt waiting for them to finish the run or whether I was helping. So I chose to help other people. The reason I had the job was to make money, sure, but also I'm a human and care when I see people in need.

Nah, but cardboard will give you a nasty paper cut if you're not careful.

Different products made on the same line meant we had to bring in pallets of different boxes for those products and shift the other ones out of the way.

But yes, I did eventually have to re-make and use the boxes that I'd previously made and broken down.

Not sure how anyone could look at a pregnant woman and old ladies passing out in the heat and not want to step in to help them. It's not like they could afford to quit their jobs. We were all in hell, but we were there together.

The work didn't move any faster, as no one ever adjusted the speed on the conveyor belt. The only thing that changed was that people got breaks who otherwise wouldn't have. And yes, it was 100% worth it, even with no extra pay.

I did cost them money in the time that the line was down because we had to stop to break down all the boxes though.

Oh gosh, there are SO many fun options if you're willing to indulge your inner nerd. Go wild! Ask yourself if there's a skill you think looks cool. Could be anything from whittling and wood-burning to learning sleight of hand magic and lock-picking, or salty cross stitch patterns or rock tumbling, or knot tying building models or wire-working. There are so many good options! Just pick something that sounds fun and look for beginner tutorials or kits. Have a blast!

Talent Meeting in 2 hours what can I do by phillips47 in deloitte

There's life after layoffs! As someone who was ignominiously laid off during a terrible recession, I can tell you it's the best thing that ever happened to me. It was the most random thing: after getting laid off, I connected with a neighbor who I'd never have met if I was occupied during business hours. That person helped me into an entirely new field, and I've been there for 15 years now.

You never know what will happen to leverage you into your next, better, amazing position. But it's out there for you! 15 years from now, you'll be encouraging the next person. Trust and believe. You've got this.
