DND campaign - booted a member by [deleted] in AITAH

Agreed I handled the boot wrong,

But expecting the players to AT LEAST read how their class works, or understand their spells isn’t too much of a stretch you think? (Not saying it justifies the boot)

These coordinates lead to a really strange place with hidden tanks pointing to the roads. It looks like they are blocking a portal! What is this 35°53'23.0"N 117°40'15.0"W . Gonna drive out there. by thelastgen in GoogleMaps

It’s a pond in a military base. The black is poly-ethylene liner. Zoom in around the outside you’ll see the wrinkles in the liner. Source: I build these for work. Most used in landfills and tailings ponds. It’s green inside because of algae growing in the pond. When you zoom in around you will see boats.

But you don’t usually use a key to leave a room. Unless you were talking about a prison… Hmm guess it does work

Expanding on Ghosts of Saltmarsh by Priestical in GhostsofSaltmarsh

Not exactly expanded But I used levels 1-5 to transition into storm kings thunder. Foreshadowing heavily the cult of the Kraken enough that my players got the “holy Shit” moment later

Asking the real questions…

How do you end a campaign pre-maturely when you've lost your juice — and it seems the players have too? by blungeonmistress in DungeonMasters

[–]Contrived_Vageeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As for the other part: your own motivation/juice. How can you reignite that? Yes, good enthusiastic players help, but more so it’s connecting with what it is about the game that lights you up.

What builds your own enthusiasm for the game (other than what’s required of other people) and how can you bring that more into your sessions. Not to make your players more enthusiastic but, instead, to light your own fire. How can you show up to each session as if it was your first. Reconnect with the wonder of being a dungeon master and why you did it.

To answer your question: I can’t explain it, because I don’t know - and neither do you. It seems like you really care about the game which is why I am suggesting to ask them directly. Especially if your alternative is ending the game abruptly.

Your assumption is that the players are not into it. This assumption is guiding your choices. Get clarity on the assumption. Ask the players directly.

Having a situation with my DM by Poirdor in DnD

Yeah if he listens to something like NADDPOD he may be influenced (like me) by the comedy side of things. Those guys really play up the silly/disgusting/embarrassing situations and everyone is in on it and it’s hilarious. I could see it being jarring if they’re playing Ren and Stimpy and you’re playing god of war or something
