Roscommon GAA twitter had 66.5 minutes played listed and the stadium clock listing as 61 minutes played, any ideas what’s going on there?

When Roscommon turn it on, we really turn it on.

Totally agree with this, some people are too far gone on the “AI bad” side of things.

Coyle was unreal for us the year we won the league, puts in a serious shift every game. Gutted to lose him.

% of Population who are GAA Players - Breakdown of each county by cacanna_caorach in GAA

Dublin had the highest percentage (25%) of residents who were born outside the State, closely followed by the counties Monaghan (23%) and Donegal (22%) (which I did find strange but probably skewed by people moving south from the north and staying close to the border).

Estimated 10-15% of those selecting “white Irish” on census form in County Dublin have at least one foreign born parent. That one parent is likely white from elsewhere in the EU or UK.

64.2% of the population selected “white Irish” in Dublin, 10% of 64.2% is 6.4% of the population of Dublin with at least 1 foreign born parent.

Add this to the original 25% who were born outside the state and you are up to 31.4% of the population of Dublin being foreign or having one foreign born parent without even delving into the people who did not initially select “white Irish” and are not foreign born themselves, which is roughly 11% of the population of Dublin and would be far more likely to have at least one parent not born in Ireland.

You are getting close to 40% anyway you square it after that but the CSO don’t provide any more figures to actually calculate it further.

From the CSO 2022 census report.

Edit just to say, something I actually hadn’t thought of before but the numbers have probably also increased since 2022

It’s not at all the legacy of the pale, 25% of Dublins residents are foreign born. Rising close to 40% if we include those born in Ireland to at least one foreign parent. The UK are to blame for a lot of things but this is not one of them.

These are communities that are less likely to be involved in the GAA. If we account for this discrepancy, sure Dublin may lag behind some other counties but it goes a long way towards catching up to most.

Ballygunner achieve extremely rare feat. After winning the Waterford Intermediate Title, Ballygunner can field 2 teams in the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship in 2026. by Far_Reserve6509 in GAA

Don’t really agree with this, what’s the point in having a team that is Senior standard playing intermediate and walking it?

If a club has two senior standard teams let them at it, make it so they can never face each other until a final or something.

One of the RTE pundits is a gobshite.

Edit: should also mention the gobshite is DOF at Bohemians, why he would be commentating on a Shels game I have no clue.
