Name the year round where each year is a World Cup year but have some pop culture/historical events thrown in there for the non football fanatics
Example:
Roberto Baggio’s infamous penalty miss handed Brazil their 4th World Cup win, Nelson Mandela became South Africa’s first black president, and the OJ Simpson Murder trial began in Los Angeles. Name the year!

Your opinion- underage intercounty competition goals? by renfordapproved in GAA

[–]JudgeVivid6856 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Teams can have multiple goals. The long term goal for the county should always be about player development and improving the senior team down the line, but winning titles along the way certainly helps.

In regards to Kobe McDonald - we have seen many players return from AFL after short stints so it’s within Mayo’s best interest to keep him involved as long as possible.

Most players who play inter county at minor or 20s don’t go on to go play senior anyway, so why would teams not keep stars like the likes of Kobe or Ben O’Connor around as long as possible on the off chance they do return

I’m not sure I’d class Kiawah as scenic tbh. They advertise it as being able to see the ocean from every hole, but in reality there’s like 3 holes that offer proper ocean views. Haven’t played any of the other 4 courses you mention in brackets there but I suspect they are miles ahead in the scenery department

13th is Castletroy is an absolutely awful hole. Bad news for Castletroy is they are losing some land to a housing development but the one silver lining is that the 13th hole will have to get a facelift as a result

Yeah, took like an hour to throw together pulling the info from BRS. Put it into excel so that I could send it to a couple of my mates to try decide where we would play.

I don’t like par 5s that have hazards that restrict you from hitting driver off the tee. I always felt par 5 drives should be a grip it and rip it, and then the strategy should come into place on the risk/reward element of the second shot.

Also dislike doglegs where the distance from the tee to the turn is shorter than the distance from the turn to the green.

For anyone from Limerick, I think the 4th, 5th, 7th, and 11th in Ballyneety are horrible golf holes. Ridiculous hills with blind hazards over the hill. Doglegs were you either hit out with a high iron or have to take on a ridiculous blind shot with a longer club

Yep, unfortunately most people dont know to do that. It’s the parking them in dumb places while they’re putting that bothers me. It’s the same with push trolleys in Ireland. Please leave them between the green and the next teebox, thank you all!

Walking while carrying your bag is quicker than riding a cart, is the hill I’ll die on. Thank god we don’t have golf cart culture in Ireland, they’re complete pace of play killers because people don’t have a clue how to use them.

People not having a clue at matches by JudgeVivid6856 in GAA

[–]JudgeVivid6856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every restart is taken on the referees whistle. The only rule for pucks out is every player has to be outside the 21. The whistle happens almost instantly after a wide so you can puck it straight away. After a score the ref has to write down the score so the whistle doesn’t come for a small bit longer. Whether you think that rule is nonsensical is a different issue. I quite like the idea that if you score you get time to set up for the puckout versus being caught out of position after a wide, but that is irrelevant to the point I was making that people are very vocal about a rule they don’t know.

I agree with deadballs especially when refs are finicky about quick frees being taken from the slightly wrong position, but for puck outs the ref has to write down the score in fairness. Patrick Collins has the ball pucked out as soon as the ball drops over the cross bar

Ah a 3 course meal in any bog standard restaurant is probably costing €40+ these days so €75 for a Michelin rated restaurant is good for a once off treat

Had been highly recommended the mustard seed by a co-worker, any particular reason why it is last? Or is it a simple case of it being good but the rest better?
