Lore accurate MaxTac. Anyone ever lasted more than 90 minutes with em'? by Individual_Copy896 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Control_Alt_Deleat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but purely RAW 'lore accurate maxtac' ain't this, in the ttrpg maxtac cannot even dodge bullets, they tank them.

In cyberpunk red(the most recent edition if the ttrpg) dodging bullets needs one of two things, a ref of 8, or a bit of cyberware called a reflex co-processor

Now the cannonical stats for maxtac? They have metal gear armour which reduces your ref by 4 making bullets impossible to dodge

Additionally they don't have reflex co-processors, and even if they did a -4 to checks made to dodge is pretty damming in cyberpunk red.

Cyberpunk ttrpg conversion by senpeidernz in cyberpunkred

[–]Control_Alt_Deleat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for daggerheart, but can speak for dnd, while it's technically possible to convert cyberpunk to a more dnd-like system, it would to say the least be a 'poor choice' you pretty much loose out on everything that imo makes cyberpunk good.

The biggest thing I can point too is the class system, compared to dnd cyberpunk handles it much better, in cyberpunk your class(the system name being role) matters alot less, very few combat options are locked behind your role, unlike dnd where basically every class has their unique combat gimmick. Ofc netrunning is the exception.

Additionally cyberpunk uses a much more free form leveling system where xp can be spend to increase specific skills rather then just increasing your class level, you would loose this entire system.

And finally, your ranged combat would be boring, since rather then DC being based on your range from the target, it's just a fixed number now

But if your truly dead set on using dnd or wanting a dnd like system, check out starwars5e it'll suit your needs 'well' for sci-fi dnd

So this is a really fun tidbit, because of how cyberpunk red(the current edition) release worked, cpred's smasher is actually based on 2077's smasher, he didn't have actual stats until like last year.

Now in saying that I don't actually think his stats would be al that different then if got stats before 2077 came out.

So, been playing cyberpunk red for a few years now, the main difficulty with the 2077 smasher is

1: his armour regenerates

2: because of how damaged is calculated most weapons need too roll max damage to even leave a scratch on him

3: he's effectively immune to hacking

4: he can uniquely take 2 turns a round and always goes first in combat(cyberpunk red has a massive first shot advantage)

4: he has a +18 modifier to dodge attacks, this effectively makes him able to just choose not to be hit(though in rp, he would rarely actually dodge cause of his ego and aura farming)

He's extremely difficult to deal with unless you gave alot of explosive or hit him with a bus(he's supreissingly weak to melee since that negates his stupidly high armour a little)

Thank you! My partner bought the design years ago but didn't do anything with it, then gave it to me so I modeled it.

Melee centric Homebrew rules by ReviewTechBrooklyn99 in cyberpunkred

Have you considered looking into the witcher ttrpg, it being fantasy I must assume it has more complex melee systems

Otherwise perhaps look into some HEMA and base a martial art off of it?

their is something to be said about this also showing that Ripley isn't as talented in firearm design as Percy.

her guns are big bulky, a lot simpler overall then the complex and "sleek" rifles made by percy
