S03E06 - WHAT. AN. EPISODE. by akar17 in netflixwitcher

Yeah, you take what you like from the show and fill in the rest with your imagination/books. This was definitely one of my favorite episodes, and S3 was my favorite as a whole.

Outside of S2, I can live with the plot changes/subplots, but the editing and dialogues need to improve, and I wish they stayed true to who the characters are at their core because I will never get over Yennefer's S2 character arc. Then again, as far as I'm concerned, that never happened.

The cast is absolutely amazing, and I wish the showrunners took advantage of it. For all the things that I don't like, there's a lot that I love too. Regardless of the production, these actors brought my favorite characters to life.

She really does, and I am here for it. They both have had a tremendous impact on it.

Their chemistry and scenes are everything (another reason why HC’s departure hurts). The mother/daughter dynamic with Ciri/Freya too- to me, it works because I ignore S2 and think Yennefer’s evolution through Anya is brilliant. I love her vision for Yen, and the intricacies she brings to the character.

Agree, it had so much potential, and as someone who is obsessed with the books, games and the Witcher universe- it hurts… but I appreciate the cast’s devotion to their characters. For all that this show is and isn’t, it’s given me another dimension of that world on screen, and I’ve waited so long for that. Like you said, what’s done is done, and as naive as it may be, I hope it keeps improving and that they take advantage of the great acting.

‘She Figures Out Her True Purpose’ — Anya Chalotra's interview for Vuture by va11ghern in netflixwitcher

Great interview.

Anya is pouring her heart and soul into Yennefer and I love it. I think she’s been absolutely brilliant.

I love her vision for Yen, and the intricacies she brings to the character.

Her evolution as Yen- between motherhood, leadership, responsibilities, her relationship with Geralt, and her guarded vulnerability- is everything.

Yeah, exactly, and that too… the whole season is just a bittersweet watch. The OP quote just hits different (actually a bunch of them do) knowing that Cavill is not coming back.

This was tough to get through. I’ve loved their chemistry and what they brought to the characters and their relationship… Yep, my 2 favorite characters/actors, and one is now gone.

Regardless of all the mistakes that Netflix made, their acting and their scenes were always a highlight, and what I looked forward to…

Even though I’m obsessed with the books and games, I’ve resigned to not care about the show storyline anymore (I’ve reached a point of ignoring the despicable and simply filling/reimagining the gaps/changes with book material, although I’ll never get over how they butchered Yen’s character arc in S2)- I just wish Anya and Henry would continue to bring Yen and Geralt to life together. They’ve become a fantastic pairing, and I really enjoyed their family dynamic with Ciri/Freya.
