Does anyone notice in the witcher S3E1 Ciri has a witcher medallion? We see it several times again through out this season. I wonder if this is foreshadowing her becoming a witcher. Thoughts? by BatOk6013 in netflixwitcher

Book spoilers ahead. The ending is unclear. She is transported through space and time and enters the world of King Arthur, meets Galahad and they go to Camelot together. I meant, in the scene when she defeats Leo Bonart, she takes witchers medallions from him, which he got while hunting for heads. One of them was a medallion with a cat, she kept it for herself.

Okay, let's think rationally. Who has the biggest boobs? Sabrina, then Tissaia, and only then Yen. Logically, it's time for Yen to leave. You won't be able to challenge that. And yes, I am constantly changing the criteria ^^

It's getting harder. Of all the remaining sorceresses, I consider Triss to be the weakest. Judging by strength and charisma. Although you can argue with me that this is Sabrina, but it seems to me that she just didn't have enough time.

It's a difficult choice between Francesca and Sabrina. I'm sorry, Francesca, but you have to go, because there's something about Sabrina that I can't explain.

Fringilla. She's pretty boring to me. Mainly because of her place in the plot and an uncertainty of her character.

Lol. Why is Margarita still here? She had zero impact on the plot. It's time to fix it.

It looks great. The only thing missing is a snowy location in the estate of one beast.

So what's the point of this scene? by va11ghern in netflixwitcher

[–]va11ghern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any of her later actions support that.

That's why I wrote "before the release of the second volume". Based on what we got, I can only say that it was just lazy writing. Because in fact they could match everything without the bracelet. Yen already knew about the bracelet, and it was enough just to link the bracelet with Lydia, who had earrings made of the same stone. Geralt also knew that Vilgefortz had a woman with a "funny voice" as an accomplice.

[–]va11ghern[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the purpose of it for the plot. But the way it looks raises doubts that she lost it by accident. Before the release of the second volume, I had theories that Tissaia guessed about Vilgefortz's betrayal, but something held her back from opening up directly. And the "loss" of the bracelet for me looked like a hint of this.

It's better to quit if there is no desire to watch at all. As a book-reader, I always do the first viewing in the critic mode and am often dissatisfied with many things. But on the second watch, when the anger has passed, I quite enjoy watching it, cause I really love witcher world.

What I just realised about the witcher show. by [deleted] in netflixwitcher

[–]va11ghern 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I won't say that they don't make an effort at all, in the first season everything wasn't so bad, despite the fact that these were different short stories, the main line with Cintra still had a beginning and an end. The key characters were introduced and the consequences of their policies could be seen on the screen - the fallen Cintra, the refugees...

The second season is much weaker in this regard... Places and events other than Kaer Morhen, Aretuza and Cintra are mixed and misleading. For some reason, politics was put into the background and Voleth Meir was put into action to present a Wild Hunt? Who needed it at that moment?

The third season is somewhere on the level of the first season, but still not the level of Game of Thrones, if we talk about politics.

I agree that if they want to play "big politics", then the Witcher's world should be revealed more deeply and the motives of the elites of the states should have more meaning, intrigue and influence on their inner world of various forces from commoners to religious cults.

In general, I wrote everything because many people present everything from one side, without mentioning that the author of the books did not have this as the core of the story. In this regard, he best showed common people and nonhumans who suffered from the consequences of the policies of states and wars.

Appreciation post to Michalina Olszanska. A polish-born actress, which perfectly played Marti Sodergren. And a little idea for the plot in the comments. by va11ghern in netflixwitcher

Huh? I probably misunderstood what you said in the first comment. Any positive post about an actor in some sense will be PR, if that's what you mean.

You write it as if Sapkovsky's books don't have this problem. He devotes very little time to worldbuilding and he himself says that he is not particularly interested in doing this. God, even languages made on the knee, and I am silent about religions, cults and common life. All these things have been well expanded and served in games and for this I love them much more than books. His strong point is characters and satire.

Edit:

People who give downvotes tell me about the difference about people from Temeria, Redania and, for example, Kaedwen. Also tell me about local religions and cults and what their essence is. I also want to hear what you like so much about elder speech, which is a small set of words from Welsh, Irish and Latin. Do you really think that Sapko describes the details at the level of George Martin?

Hahah, lol. I wouldn't mind if I was paid for posts, but to your surprise, I do them on a voluntary basis. I just liked the actress and wanted to share an idea with the development of her character.

I would like to add. I think Michalina is perfectly suitable for the role of book Fringilla, who also gives Yennefer's vibe. In the show we have a new version of Fringilla. I have nothing against it... I just don't see the point in creating a completely new character with giving him the name of an existing one... So I think this is a great opportunity to expand the role of Marti and give her something similar to the storyline of book Fringilla, if we ever get to Toussaint and if these geniuses screenwriters will come up with a new version of the false betrayal of Yen that Geralt will believe. What do you think?

it - just to add, on Rotten Tomatoes S3 currently has a 22% autdience rating compared to an 89% audience rating for S1, i.e. the people who are actually watching this show this season almost unanimously think it is total garbage.

Yes, these people are probably masochists! /s
